Yea, we have several threads on this topic already. An inconvenient fact for the BEV haters on this forum, and they are legion, is that BEVs are likely to rescue truly small trucks (a category that does not include the Maverick) from the EPA.

Vehicle size has become an arms race and a means to circumvent EPA regulations. This is fairly well discussed.

The fact that someone can walk into a dealership and buy a 9,000 pound, 1,000 HP, AWD explosive battery on wheels, with a regular license, is absolutely insane. I have spent countless hours driving a 9,000 pound vehicle around for work. It requires a completely different mindset to drive a vehicle of that weight. Yet, these people can drive in with a Civic and drive out with the aforementioned truck with zero experience.

We have a problem in the USA. My Maverick has already been hit once because the person driving couldn't see over their hood.

Pickup trucks are big, but not enough. That's why so many you see are jacked up with oversize tires and sometimes steps to assist in entry. They must match the ego of the driver.
I was perfectly happy with my mid nineties Ford Super Cab Explorer with the long bed. Very useful. Now, with the EPA, that isn't possible. If I acquired one of those jacked up trucks I would bring it back to stock.

It's always fun seeing an F-350 with a 12" Sky Jacker lift, on 22" chromes, with the largest tire they can fit, and side steps so they can climb in......sitting in a handicap spot.

I had a 150 way back..I think it was about a 75. Pulled horse trailer, etc. Useful, yes. I was making a joke about the jacked up ones...and would say a large % have never seen load of gravel or lumber.

I’m not incredulous, but why is this topic always a YouTube video and not something from a reliable source?

My buddy and I have discussed this a lot. Living in Charlotte it’s one of the reasons I went with the Maverick. Just traversing parking lots and decks in a full size truck is a complete pain around here. And even when you park perfectly, some other Jack hole parks right on top of you and dings your doors. The Maverick is a lot smaller and gives me more room within parking spaces. My buddy is thinking about selling his full size Nissan and getting a Hybrid Maverick now. Less gas, easier to navigate, still covers a lot of bases. The Maverick is a Swiss Army knife of vehicles. Pretty good at everything.

For me it's a perfect size. Literally the same size as my old taurus but easier to see out of and more capable. I don't want something so big it needs a staircase across the front but I also don't really need a bed the entire length of the vehicle either since covered storage/seating is also nice. I haven't had anyone ride in the back seats yet to tell me what that's like. Can't be worse than some of the budgety cars I've endured.

What I find amazing are the 20 something’s driving a diesel 4X4 super duty Lariat with $5000 of wheels and tires. Can you take a 30 loan on a truck?

I take 3 ladies with me in my Maverick every Friday night to go dancing in a town 40 miles each way. Nobody has complained about room yet. I get between 35 and 40 mpg on that trip too! Ecoboost AWD and 4K Tow.

I know...I have a neighbor who just lost his job and is realizing he won't be able to keep his Big truck. I did talk to him before he bought it and mentioned in passing about the general subject of saving and the like, but he wanted that truck. Deferred gratification learned the hard way now.
