Same in Norcal. Checked Reno and elsewhere, very few Lariats and none in Velocity Blue Hybrid.
April 21st - Ordered 25 Lariat AWD Velocity Blue no sunroof in May from Folsom Ford (under $41k out the door), build in August, likely a delivery after Labor day.

I always buy, normally 2-3 years old. None in the west used in what I wanted. Still have a 2003 Expy FX4 with 103K and our 2001 Sportrac with 184K just died this week with some cranking noise deep in the engine per mechanic. Bought that used for $18k in 2004, so I got my money out of that depreciating asset vs. leasing. Figure it cost me less than $1000 a year (plus tires, lube, 1 brake job, 1 master cylinder) over the 21 years we owned it. Driving it down to PicknPull next week. I like the old rear window on the SportTrac vs. the new tiny slide window nowadays.

I have friends that buy used cars, and run them till they die. Some 20 years old, 150k miles or more. Cars are an annoyance to them.

Other friends buy a 2-3 year old low mileage car, buying very wisely, keep it for another 2 years, selling it and starting again. A lot of work and luck. This is a game for them. Got to be savvy on finding the best deals. Few people are.

I don’t have the time nor desire for such near constant wheeling-dealing. Nor do I want to drive a 20 year old car with 150k mileage.

To each their own.

It’s the little things with the Lariat that spoke to me.
One was the better soundproofing like the sound insulated Lariat windshield.
I still can’t get use to how quiet my cabin is,
Especially on the Interstate.
Plus the options, I felt like WTH I’ll get em all. Well most of them. I passed on the sunroof and 4k tow because I don’t tow much and I preferred my non 4k final drive ratio.
The final drive is the same for all 2025 hybrid Mavericks regardless of 2k or 4K towing, 3.37:1

Mines the 2.0L turbo, didn’t need lower gearing.

I had two requirement:
  1. Towable behind my motorhome which has a 5K tow limit.
    • Maverick Hybrid can be Towed Four-Wheel-Down.
  2. It had to be Blue.
Over two months, I searched online the four local Dealers within 230 miles. I saw very few Blue Hybrid Mavericks online. I even test drove a gray XLT Hybrid.

I saw online:
  1. 2024 Blue Hybrid XLT FWD. 230 Miles away for 34K. (In Stock)
  2. 2025 Blue Hybrid XLT AWD. 37 Miles away for 36K. (In Stock)
  3. 2025 Blue Hybrid Lariat AWD. 37 Miles away for 38K. (available in 3-4 Weeks)
  4. 2025 Blue Hybrid Lariat AWD w/4K tow & BAP. 8 Miles away for 40K. (available in 3-4 Weeks)
My Blue (4) 2025 Maverick Lariat has 4K Towing & Black Appearance Package. Dealer website said it would be available in 3–4 Weeks. I went back to the Dealer & placed a deposit on it. Ten days later, I got a text to come in to test drive it. I drove it home May 1st.

I have watched to see if anymore Blue Hybrid Mavericks have come in since May. Only 2025 Maverick Hybrid Lariats were in other colors like Gray or Sand.

I am happy with my 2025 Velocity Blue Ford Maverick Lariat Hybrid AWD.
Blue 💙 is my favorite color!

Yeah in Miami everybody's buying something as expensive as they can afford (and often more) because you have to flex your dough 💰💰😄
I feel 'ya I'm in Cancun tho
Same old dough

I'm not looking at one at the moment. Sometimes, I browse on Cargurus just for the fun of it and to see what's out there. I'm still on the fence if I want another one or not. Or, maybe I should just keep what I have and buy it out at the end of the lease. But man, the price increases in just a few years is absolutely ridiculous! I remember when I ordered my first Maverick right when the order books opened, you could get a no-options Lariat in the mid-high 20s! Nowadays, that only gets you the base XL.

This is part of the reason why I turned away from a 25 order that my inventory manager ordered out of spite. It was an Eruption Green Lariat Hybrid AWD w/ 4K tow and a keypad. The MSRP was just a heir over $38,000 but the lease payments I got quoted were astronomical! They were well into the $600 range like in your case. I'm comfortable in the $400 range but a $200 hike for a vehicle that only costs $1200 more than my current Maverick new? I don't think so!
That Eruption Green truck sounds like a nice one...

BAKFlip MX4 TS w/ T-Slot Rails (My install)
(I still have an open case with RealTruck BAK.)

I needed a hard top because of snow load in Alaska. It will support more than 400 lbs. of weight. (evenly distributed) i.e. Snow.

It also has a T-Slot rail to add a Rack later if needed. 🤔

I don't get no snow down here, would you say the soft cover will be performs better? I can't decide between the hard tri fold VS. the soft one

Personal leases are a good way to stay "car poor". Perpetual payments with nothing to show for it.

Invest $500/month for 40 years instead and have a million in the bank.

Investing $500 a month is a great idea!

Doesn’t address the issue of what to do if you need a car. You’ll still have payments if you finance a depreciating asset to own it, or you’ll have $40K tied up in a depreciating asset sitting in your driveway.

Every mile and every day of any car will cost you something. There no free lunch.

It was as a well known fact in my day. That not counting collectors of antique cars that an automobile is the worst investment you will ever make.
I made money with several of mine. They were just a tool to use up.
Got 528,000 trouble free miles out of a 2008 2.7L Taco.

I have a friend who is over 60 and never owned a home. He used the same logical for renting or leasing a home as you do a car. He said "I never paid maintenance, mortgage, property taxes and never will." But that is a lie because he did pay all of that in rent for the owner of the property. His landlord just informed him when his lease is up in 3 months the house is being sold. This is move 4 in last 6 years. When I saw him last he was talking about retirement but complaining with ever increasing rent he can;t afford to do it. But he sure changed houses every 2 to 3 years his whole life. Same with cars. If you always lease you will never own a car.
It’s not “the same with cars.” You’re missing the entire key point of the discussion.

Homes and houses, in most places, and for the most part are appreciating assets. There are exceptions, but in most cases, these are facts. There have been multiple homes nearby to me that have been for the most part, uninspiring, and sold for close to $1 million…. Only to have a new owner bulldoze them to build something new. The person who sold the house made out like a bandit, some turning profits of several hundred thousand dollars in just a few years on a three or $400,000 investment.

Automobiles have a limited life, and in most cases are depreciating assets. They are worth 10% less the second they drive out the showroom floor and continue to depreciate until they get used up.

Certain collector cars, like Ferrari and Porsche can appreciate. Not if you use the as daily drivers.

I own an appreciating collector car, but I lease my daily drivers.

…As I have concluded other posts in this thread to each their own.

Perpetually renting a personal daily driver is not smart financially. But it's cheaper than buying overpriced cars and flipping them every few years.

Leasing vs buying is not a discussion ANYONE should make or even engage in if they are driving cars 15-20 years old, and happy with that choice. Not for me.

For me, leasing works.

So did you lease your tools? Or did you buy the tool and use it until it no longer served it's purpose? ;)
I was paid .56 cents per mile, .59 when I retired, for using my vehicle and at about 85,000 miles a year. That and the Earned income credit deduction gave me a Free paid for up to a $26,000 vehicle every five years. Thats 425,000 miles roughly. Drove that one trouble free Taco till compression started noticeably dropping at again 528K miles.
It was pretty cool writing a check for the full amount on those new vehicles.

I learned to use the tax laws and legal loop holes to my advantage. Just like the people who wrote the tax laws.
Earned income credit for sole proprietors trying to run a business. $5,000 a year. Thank you Bill Clinton.

I will not and would never lease.
That’s renting with restrictions and penalties then having to turn in and loose your shirt or buy your own used vehicle at too high of a price.
They rob you making a down payment then monthly rent then three years later you have zero equity.
Not this old country boy.
