How are you liking this thus far? Does it seem durable and like it will last a while?
It's been great! I'm glad I pulled the trigger on it. I had it on my wishlist for years lol. Just never found a reason to buy it with all the cheaper options available but I'm glad I finally decided to give it a shot. I don't see longevity being an issue but anything can happen ;)

I'm proud to announce that I've done absolutely Nothing to the truck lately lol. Is that what "adulting" means? Maybe I should add more stickers...

Also, bought with 11 almost 12k on it and currently only have 15k. 6 months and 3k miles. What a welcome change from the 2k per month I was doing just a couple years ago.

I was going to get snow tires but I'm testing the KO2's for a winter. I suspect with my light driving I'll be fine. Anyways...

Just reporting nothing new to report and it's super relaxing

I would still like to replace the rear Husky mats the previous owner put in the rear of the truck for the Tux Mats since I did the fronts, but I don't really have a need to. It's a want. Maybe the Amazon Christmas fairy will deliver them to me.

The ko2 is only fair in rain, but it's awesome in snow.

Finalized my storage today.

I'm pretty organized and it seems like a lot, but there is plenty of room. The only thing I have left is some mats for the under seat storage and a 4 way divider for the center console - both of which I'm not certain I'll be keeping but I wanted to get them and try. Possibly updating the rear Husky Liners the previous owner had to the TuxMats I have up front. The rest I actually just finished organizing today for a final fit to everything. I'm still on the fence about a rear seat delete, but if I get a sub I'll likely have to do it to retain the setup I have in a similar way. I don't believe in wasted space and I like to be modular without the need for a bunch of Jeep style MOLLE crap mounted everywhere. The more organized you are, the more space it leaves you to play with.

Only took me a month to get it all totally sorted and I've never shared in great detail my "pack out" in the truck before, so here goes:

Truck bed:
REAL Full size spare (under) - picking up Thursday, 8-3-23, from the tire shop near me
Bottle jack & ratchet straps (cubby)
Ratcheting cargo divider & net

Rear overall:

Plenty of room for a couple grocery bags on the floor and plenty of room on the seat. I never store things on the passenger side or in the doors over there. Just my tool boxes. I keep the pad on the backseat for groceries and anything else that gets set there. I've considered buying a full seat cover but good ones are expensive and I just don't think I need one. I'm still toying with the idea of a rear seat removal. I still have the Husky Liners the first owner put in the backseat, but I didn't find them adequate for the fronts so I replaced with TuxMats

Is the IFAK you have in the driver's side door a commercial one, or is it one you put together yourself? Mind sharing the details on that?

By the way - great setup. I may try and copy some of your ideas, which they say is the sincerest form of flattery... :)

It's one I put together myself and TBH, the case kinda sucks. But it's a quick deploy variant I can get to with one hand if I need. Came in handy recently actually. A neighbor fell and hit his head pretty hard; broke his nose. So I need to re-up on my goz. You actually just reminded me lol.

Hey copy away! That's why I link to my build in the signature so people can have quick reference to anything I may talk about or suggest. I enjoy helping folks out!

I will say though, if you plan on doing tire, just stick with 235's. Most people here will agree.

Oil change and tire rotation yesterday, finally. Sent in my first sample for a TBN at Blackstone. I'll post when I get a couple more to see the results on a normal comparison scale as long as everything looks good.

I'm a bit worried as I've had to top the coolant reservoir off twice now. The first time when I got it, with 11k on it, not really a big deal and kind of expected... but recently it was below the minimum line again. I'm hoping it's just the change in weather and condensation burn off, as I did not see any evidence of leaks, but if I have to top off again I'll make sure it's holding pressure and go from there.

Everything else looked good. No leaks, nothing loose, CV's not leaking etc etc. Undercoating I did is holding up decently and next year I'm definitely removing the plastic panels along the sides to get under those too.

Anyways, just over 3k on this oil change and I'll change at 3k for the first 3 samples I send in then go from there too.

I'm so used to having my tires around 35 PSI cold and on my previous Tacoma around 32 for the E-rated AT3W's, but on these KO2's I felt all kinds of tread squirm so I aired up to 39 cold and it's riding much better. Took off today from the car port and they were 40 as soon as I started rolling, 42 once everything got warmer. I'll keep an eye on the tread wear but I rotate every 5k so it shouldn't be a problem.

Got some plans next week:
- Replacing the brake pads with PowerStop Z23 ceramics.
Part numbers: Z232300 fronts; Z231833A rears
I may do the rotors on the next brake service, but I hope I don't have to. These OEM rotors are not the greatest quality so I likely will anyways.

- Measuring for a full size spare. I'm just going to test with the full size setup I have on now but I will be using a 17x7 steelie and a cheaper all terrain that is 3 peak rated, so I expect there to be a little bit more room and if I have to air down to squeeze it up, that's okay too. I carry a Dewalt 20V Tire Inflator.

- Removing the rear seat so I can measure for my custom storage setup. I plan on keeping it simple since you cannot remove the under seat storage. So that portion will just be flat and on a hinge, but the rear will change later on once I add a sub/amp. I'll be adding sound deadening then hopefully all goes to plan with the measurements and I can re-use some of the brackets to hold everything.

I also stocked up on some fluids, filters, and extra plugs:
Motor oil: Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w-30
Oil Filter: WIX 51348
Oil Drain Plug: Needa 653096US
Brake fluid: Motorcraft PM-20 DOT-4 LV
Coolant: Motorcraft VC13G Yellow 50/50
PTU: Motorcraft SAE 75W-85
PTU Drain Plug: 6C2Z-4N282-AA
RDU: Motorcraft SAE 75W
RDU Drain Plug: GN1Z-4N282-A
Fluid pump for MC Bottles: Lubrimatic 55-001 4CC
Transmission: Mercon ULV XT12QULV
Engine Air Filter: Motorcraft FA1939
Cabin Air Filter: Motorcraft FP100A
Spare PCV hose: Motorcraft KCV332
Alternator/WP belt: Motorcraft JK4521B
A/C belt: Motorcraft JK4362B
Spark Plugs: Motorcraft SP594

I figured since there are only 4 and they are easily accessible, I'd get the spark plugs now just in case to have on hand. Looking to replace every 50-60k. I likely won't buy new Ignition coils unless I have to or at least around 100k. But the part number for those is Motorcraft DG576. I do carry the spare belts in the vehicle just in case. PNW, rural roads, no cell service - the last thing I want is to be stranded because of a belt. And I got the spare PCV tube just in case I messed something up taking the fittings off for the catch can.

And got some spare wiper blades:
Drivers side: WW2054
Passenger side: WW2249

Normally I go for Bosch Icons but they only make them in 22", and for the price the MC OEM ones are good. That, and I'm surprised how well the OEM ones are on the Maverick. They were garbage on the Escape I had, same with pretty much every vehicle before it. But the OEM ones are serviceable. I wrote about it here: How to fix Wiper Blade Chatter

I also have to service the families 2500 6.7L this week. Needs oil (12qt's 5w-40 Rotella T6), fuel filters (2 of them on the 6.7L) and brakes done. They just got some new Wildpeak AT3W's and said they love them. Much quieter than the previous GY Wranglers they had (and a much better rubber). They almost overspent by about $600 with Les Schwab's in house brand tire and I saved them from that disaster. @Discount Tire coming through ;)

Add all that to the list of everything else to do around the property and it's going to be a busy week.

Update for the screws and retainers on the FX4 Skid plates:

Screw & Spring Washer: W702413S450B
Nut: W718770S439
Sorry to sound ignorant but what is PTU fluid and RDU fluid?
Is that the trans fluid and the rear differential fluid?
Im no slouch when it comes to doing my own maintenance on my cars but never heard of those.
Also you mentioned that you are having issues doing the rear brakes. Why is that? Something about service mode. I haven't worked on the mav yet but if you don't set the EPB shouldn't it be easy to change everything out?

PTU = power transfer unit. It would be called a center differential to anyone but Ford.

RDU = rear differential unit.

That's the PTU plug (front dif). The RDU is the rear. Honestly I think they are the same but I can't recall 100%

Well it's been in the back of my mind for a while now to replace that "iconic silver" Lariat trim grille with an XLT one, but due to the cost I'm going to just paint it instead. I know they make $100 adhesives but I don't want debris getting in all the nooks and cranny's between the adhesive add on's, so I plan on removing the front portion entirely and just painting that center grille section that goes in the middle of the headlights and around the emblem. I don't want a blacked out emblem, I want to retain the chrome/blue emblem.

The real reason I'll be doing this is because the bottom portion of the bumper, the black plastic part, has always been scratched from the previous owner. So I plan on replacing it this summer. It's very unsightly and I'll show pics of my failed attempt to applying heat to blend the scratches back in. Unfortunately they were just too deep and big, so I ended up with a lighter and glossier look around the areas I tried to fix. I knew I'd end up having to replace the bumper, so it was worth a shot. Been driving with it for too long now and it's starting to annoy me every time I clean the truck.

So, the bumper and the front grille will be done soon and I might even consider swapping back to the stock wheels for a while to see how I like the look of them once all the lighter silver is removed from the truck. Which also means removing the FX4 emblem on the rear that I added to blend the contrast of the wheels I put on and the Lariat silver trim pieces.

Not big changes. Subtle, and hopefully simple. I might just end up using the wheels I bought for winter tire wheels as they are so much easier to clean. Just summer projects ahead... something to keep me busy and waste my money 🤣
Did you ever figure out servicing the rear breaks without a tool or did you end up getting one of the chinese variants of the ford tool?

I begrudgingly let the FORD dealer do it because they had to put it in service mode via FDRS. Others have posted work arounds for the process and apparently not needing it, so next time it's up for brake services I will consider doing that.

Great looking truck and perfect color choice. Yeah, tis the season. Going camping, fishing and crabbing at the end of the month. Will definitely do some shooting soon.
Nice looking Crosstrek, too! What year and what made you get rid of it?
