How does the Hertz sound in that box? I got the dual box from SD and 2 of the MPS250s. Just waiting on an install date for the Audison F8.9 DSP/amp and likely a sr1.500 for the subs.

I love the Hertz sub! It sounds great, and I haven't even found it's limit yet(probably never will). It is a good combo of SQ and "authority". It eats up every bit of the sub channel on my Audison SR5.600 amp and asks for more. For my tastes, any more sub would over power my mids/highs. I imagine two of them would be all anyone could possibly want, unless you're just going for maximum sound levels. I think you're going to be VERY happy with them, just make sure you got the 2 ohm versions to get the most out of that sub amp you're planning on.

When I installed my slightly-larger tweeters I thought I might end up having to do the same with grille cloth but glad I didn't have to. But it's great to see that it looks really good with the cloth.

Fitting a 2.5" in the dash would require a level of butchery that very few would feel comfortable with. You can make a hole in the dash panel that diameter, but I'd be surprised if the speaker could actually be put in the hole from the top because of the windshield being right there above it on an angle. Before thinking any more about it, find a piece of foam and cut it into the shape, dimensions, and depth of the replacement speaker. Then put it up near the windshield to help visualize what kind of installation clearance issues this might present.

I'm all for taking on challenges, but I agree with @rallyshark's good advice. The effort required to go 3-way up front, or even just to put a larger driver in the dash... for the amount of work it is, few would be able to say they hear a difference over a good 2-way with no hacking of plastic needed. And when the vehicle is being driven, tire noise, wind noise, and engine noise will negate that difference. It would be worthwhile if an owner is considering a killer audio system with the intention of doing serious audio competitions. But for the rest of us with average time, money, and most importantly patience, that extra time might be better spent on other projects.
I totally agree with this!

I actually ordered the 4ohm versions. There's only a 200 watt difference in output from the amp from 2ohm to 1ohm. I figure this will give the amp a bit more control over the speakers and tax the electrical system a bit less. I think I will be pushing the limits of stock electrical as it is with the 2 Audison amps. My other sub amp option is the D'amore 1500.1. I have it just sitting new in the box. It puts out 100 more watts at 2 ohms, but is huge in comparison. I'm not sure there is space for it.

I would swap them for the 2ohm if you still can. That's a mistake underpowering them, and my Key 500.1 plays just fine at 1 ohm 500w. It is not stressed, overrated/mis-rated, etc. There is no discernable distortion or noise.

I thought about it.... but this guy seems to know his stuff. If I was doubling my power instead of going from 800rms to 1000rms it might be worth it. The video is a little long-winded, but makes sense.

While he's not wrong in a general sense, it really depends on the amp. Audison lists the amp with a damping factor(control) of greater than 300, which is great, but it doesn't specify if it maintains that damping factory as the ohms go down. I don't think you'd really notice the difference in "control" if you were running 1 ohm. Don't get me wrong, the system will sound great with the 800 watts. You'll just be leaving potential on the table running 2 ohm. With the two amps you'll be running, I don't think current draw will be too much(even at minimum ohm loads). Those amps are incredibly efficient for what they do, and that's one of the reasons I went with Audison myself. Those subs will eat up 800 watts like its nothing, and can most definitely handle more. If its a matter of not wanting to go through the trouble of swapping the subs out, I get that too. Truth be told, your ears will be bleeding from the mids/highs before those subs run out of steam as is, haha.

Where did you order that sub box from? It is wicked awesome. Thanks
Look up Ford Maverick Audio on Facebook. He has a page and I just ordered it via private message with him. It's Chris from sound decisions.

People don't realize how well those enclosures are built too! Very solid sub boxes from Sound Decisions with great bracing, and that bedliner covering is super tough.

What coaxial speakers did you go with? How and were did you disconnect the dash tweeters from? Are you using an amp with your new front door speakers? How is the imaging of the highs with the new tweeters lower in the door? Sorry about all the questions. I'm gonna be doing my sound system soon. I just picked up a kenwood kac-m1814 4 channel amp to run the front and rear speakers. I'm not gonna run a subwoofer I'm just gonna use very good 6.5 and 4 inch speakers. Now I'm stuck on whether I want components up front or not. I don't really want to mess with the dash speakers. Thanks
Sorry for the late reply. I have 6.5" Infinity Kappas in the front doors. I simply removed the factory tweeters. I do have an amp running the front speakers + 10" sub. I prefer the imaging of door speakers vs. dash speakers. I've heard the rear speakers aren't really worth changing. Let us know if you hear differently. I barely have my rear speakers on.
