Just sharing for anyone who might want to crimp their own terminals on the BCM side instead of using the Ford repair parts - I believe I found the correct pins. They are Molex MX150 part number 33012-3021. They are about $0.15 each at Mouser: https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Molex/33012-3021-Loose-Piece?qs=8%2Bu/V6/T1OrugG5hu7z58A==&countryCode=US&currencyCode=USD

I need to practice/figure out my crimping. Obviously the Ford is done perfect (on top). Here's a quick comparison pic of my first practice attempt:

Thats a great idea . Great job finding those.

I guess I was more meaning more of how to disassemble it. Like to press in the the two tabs on the curved end of the cover and cutting the zip tie to release it. This just wasn't obvious to me at first. The red part only popped out around 1/4" for me but allowed me to insert the connector. I've got it in there now so I just need to run a wire across to the driver side now to connect it to DD kit. I'm going to try and put a toggle switch in so I can alternate it between the two inputs still if something goes wrong down the line.
I just completed this modification and wanted to thank you. If I hadn't seen this post I probably would have still been playing with that curved cover. I did not see the zip tie for the life of me.

For the plate-mounted lights presently in my icon I wired them directly off the BCM.

For the Diode Dynamics fog kit I installed recently I used the included relay. Constant power to the 12V cable connection, triggered by one of the BCM fog power lines, and the backlight function I instead piggybacked the line I use for my grille lights tapping the camera fuse. Didn't know if the lights themselves had circuitry to switch the backlight off when the fogs were active (didn't test), so just used the relay.
So you probably ran a wire from BCM Pin 6 as the Activation Input Wire to the Relay and used the VB to the battery (the constant 12 cable connection)?
However, no need to employ the Deactiation Wire as Pin 6 is driven by the intellgence in the BCM and will turn on and off as needed.

How did your test go?

Did you notice if the Backlighting stays on when the fog lamps illuminate? just trying to figure out if there is are a set of NO relay contacts in the relay housing.. or if each of the lamp housings contains a NO relay that interupts power to the backlighting when it sees power to the fog lamps? DD diagrams don't indicate where the logic is being performed.... Of course if the backlighting is always on with the parking lights (or grill lights in your case), regardless of what the fog lamps are doing themselves...well then there is no logic being applied to the backlighting feature.

I only asks because if the backlighting is kind of dumb... then we can use Antonio's wire looms and just feed add the 3rd wire which would be a tap off of the parking lights (I know, y'all hate taps)...

The DD setup really seems to have power managed very well, so I might as well utilize it all and follow your setup... Just wonder if the BCM would see that there's no power being consumed on Pin 7 and then indicate a fog lamp bulb is out.. or some such thing? Would it be safer to just enable Pin 6 with Forscan if Pin 7 is not being used?

So one last thing, I was putting together all the forscan changes so that I could be added to that master list thing on another thread. This is more just curiousity but any guesses on What the DRL and Fog only modes are for the lights? Cornering is suppose to be for turning the wheel and turn only is suppose to be when the turn signal is on. As far as I can tell, DRL at least on the lariat never turns off unless I turn it off at the knob and I've got no clue what fog only actually represent.

edit: Thought I had it finished. changed all the setting, symbol on the dash working, but no fog lights. Not getting any voltage out of my wire from the bcm so im going to have to trace down that gremlin and see where the disconnect is happening.

edit 2: found the gremlin, adjusted forscan settings to #4. Everything is working fine. updated this chart for the forscan settings
That is golden right there!

I asked DD about the backlighting... refer a couple post above where I asked about it...
In a nutshell this was the response..

"The parking lights activate when the headlights are off and the parking circuit is on. The parking circuit allows them to be on with the foglights off or on when the headlights are on as well. They have a safety so that when the foglights are turned on via the switch if both are receiving power, the backlight will shut off. This is done this way to make it very OEM. So whenever your headlights or parking circuit is on and the foglights are off the backlight will be on to be a secondary parking light. These will not be bright enough to stand out during sunlight, hence why they are on the parking circuit."

I think he made a typo or so in the first two sentences, but he was very clearly stating that there is logic that prevents the backlight from being on at the same time as the foglight lamps.

So if we were to use Antonio's method of bypassing the DD Relay, we'd have to do what Antonio did and that's leave the blue wire (backlighting) disconnected. If we wanted to utilize it, we'd have to follow DD steps of implementing a series of relays... or find something else from the BCM that can trigger the backlighting at the appropriate time (I've studied it... think your left with choosing a couple of pins and running them through a relay still)...

So that said... I'm going to follow Darnon's route... Use everything from the DD kit, but use the BCM Pin 6, with the appropriate setting in Forscan, as the trigger for the DD relay... Sort of an OEM+/Aftermarket comprimise on the installation.

I do want the bling of the backlighting... which is funny becuase I usually ignore that kind of thing... but I like it on these lights..

I have mine setup with the DD harness minus the switch harness, and just connected the white activation wire to pin 6 on the BCM, I still have backlighting working with the T Tap blue wire to the side marker.

That's exactly what I'm going to do as well... The DD kit is pretty good... and by using Pin 6 as just a trigger for the DD circuitry.. it's not like that single pin is carrying the load of two lights.... the DD Relay is doing that.

So in FOrscan, did you just enable the Left Fog LIght (pin 6) then or did you enable Pin 7 as well?

Just the 6 i guess you dont need both if your not going to use it.

Also im not using their Fog lights or their harness because i have the oem Fog lights from the f150 that doesn't come with the back light feature. I just suggested the idea of uf ppl wanted the feature that would be a cool way to do it for ppl that want to keep those fog lights.
