Ok, this happened while driving on the 5 freeway in South OC yesterday around 4pm pacific time. I could not, I repeat, I could not get my camera out fast enough or safely to take a picture while going 70mph. The truck was a Maverick. The front end looked like the mock pictures I have seen. The tailgate had the Maverick stamping. As he passed me it DID have a large screen for the infotainment system. The rims were different from any Bronco or Maverick I have seen. The bed area was covered with some type of cloth covering to cover the tonneau cover. Don't know why. It was heavily taped down to keep the cover from flapping. It had a dealer license plate. Once the driver saw I was looking at him he sped up to pass me.

So, from what I saw, this just might be a 2025 mock up going to a dealer. It definitely was NOT a 2024.
Could have been a 25. But, if it was it would almost certainly have a manufacturers plate on it, not a dealer plate. If they changed the body too much they probably would have had it wrapped in some sort of camouflage.

The front end looked like an upgraded tremor, but it was a hybrid. Tailights were blacked out.

Somebody in SoCal got video of Kia’s midsize truck this week so it could be true.
Both Kia and Hyundai are headquartered in SoCal so there's always lots of testing around here. Ford is in Michigan so it would be odd for a test vehicle to be this far south unless they were looking to do some desert testing or something.

Maybe Ford wanted to test it in horrible traffic! 😂

No doubt you saw what you saw! I live in stuttgart, we see Porsche and Mercedes mules daily/year round....Pretty neat stuff.

My biggest question is why no one has tried to transplant the current escape infotainment system or at least the larger display into the current Mavericks. Once ford actually updates it, I'm sure you guys will figure out a way to upgrade the 22-24's...

The Maverick has quickly become overpriced.
As compared to what other overpriced vehicle?

Even with the 'overpriced' vehicles we have now if you adjust for inflation they are cheaper than 90's vehicles. The '22 Maverick launched at what the Model T cost, if I remember correctly.

I am more worried about the pricing trends of groceries than the pricing trends of vehicles. I think we should all consider ourselves lucky to even have new vehicles to complain about.

1st World.

I highly doubt it, but it could be possible as they are built at Hermosillo.

I see a lot of pre-production test mules from Honda and Acura (live about 15 minutes from their plant and R&D facility) and I have seen quite a few domestic test mules from the Big 3 when driving up north.

They have all been heavily camouflaged and the vehicle operator (on a public road) was not at all concerned with the attention they were receiving.
I used to work at that R&D facility. 1st job after college.
