Just had to report that yesterday I saw my very first Maverick … and how stupidly exciting it was.

(We ordered our XLT AWD EcoBoost on Jan. 25, just as the order window was about to close …. without ever having seen a Maverick, let alone having ever sat inside or test driven one. We’re not expecting to get it until the end of the 2022 production in the fall. If at all … But have been checking in on this forum to keep up with things.)

Anyway, we have been on the lookout to see one on the road while we wait. And yesterday — unbelievably — one showed up just a mile and a half from our house.

I had just been to the post office in our little town (pop. 800 or so). I had gotten in the Subaru and was pulling out of a parking spot across the street, when coming up the street towards me was a bright blue and obviously new Ford truck.

Surely not ... Was this a Maverick?

As it passed me I turned my head to see the back end, and yes, indeed… a Maverick. It parked in front of the P.O. on the other side of the street, so I did a quick U-turn and pulled in to park just ahead of it.

The owner didn’t get out right away — was getting something ready to mail, no doubt. So I politely gave his driver’s window a light tap, and he tentatively lowered the window only about 2 inches. (No doubt wondering what in the heck I was doing.)

”This is the Maverick,” I exclaimed. “We have one on order, but have never actually seen one. Mind if I just walk around it and take a look?”

The guy was nice enough to put the windows down, so I walked around to the passenger side to get out of the road, and looked in to see the same navy-and-slate with orange accents interior we’ll be getting, and it all looked good.

He was obviously preoccupied with whatever business he needed to do at the P.O., so we didn’t have a long conversation.

It was a hybrid XLT, and he said he had only had it three weeks or so, after an eight-month wait.

But had the right answer to the question, “How do you like it?”

”I love it. Best deal I ever got on a vehicle.”

Stupidly excited to see it, as I said. I didn’t ask him if he was local, but I hope so, so I can see it again.

Somehow reassuring to see one out on the road, since we still have months of waiting to do to get ours.

I ordered on Oct 15th last year after a test drive of an Eco boost Lariat. My wife drove the first half of the test drive then I put the pedal to the metal and was pleased , you will love it.
Just saying

Excellent! I have seen one at a car show (couldn't get near it), one parked at the grocery store and another drive by on the highway, all ecoboost. My first hybrid sighting may when mine arrives... hopefully within the week! So far there are only a little over 20,000 of them roaming the USA. So, to see one IS EXCITING. Yeah, my wife looks at me funny when I talk Maverish.

" in our little town (pop. 800 or so). "

Cool.

I also took note you're a hop and a skip from the thriving metropolis (ha!) of Dingman's Ferry. Passed across the funky little bridge across the Delaware there not infrequently. (Fond memories from many, many moons ago of the Poconos in general. Although my primary stomping grounds there were several skootches more to the north, at one time picked up some extra income commuting to work at the Pocono Manor Inn down your way.)

Last Sunday, I'm standing in line at the cultural center of our little town in the midwest (Walmart) and I look over to the next line and see the salesperson who sold me my Maverick. She says, "Hey, we have a Maverick, umm, it isn't yours and we can't even sell it, but you can come look at it." So I said, "Maybe a test drive?" At that point she went through the checker and I didn't want to lose my place in line to pursue her, or the answer to my question. I did drive over to confirm that there was a Maverick sitting on their lot, there was, an XLT in a dark green. I drive by that dealer everyday and I've not seen it again nor had time to stop and ask about it. I think it is gone. So, ummm, what was that? It feels like a bigfoot sighting, was it there or wasn't it? I didn't even take a grainy, blurred picture so that I could post it here and debate whether it was a Maverick or an 80's era ranger with a new paint job. I won't have time to stop and ask, "Where did it go, was it really here?" for another day.
