These things can be stopped while still a chip by having most insurance companies send out a mobile repair truck to inject some stabilizing material. Takes 15 minutes and it is usually free. And it saves everyone time and angst and money.

Good idea getting Ford glass.

I had mine replaced with after market glass and could tell right away it did not fit the same. The sunscreen would slide between the dash and glass. Didn't do that before. Then when I drove it there was a horrible rattle.

The fix was putting Ford glass in. No rattle and the sunscreen fit the same again.

There are good after market windshields (you don't need a Ford OEM one). I got a small crack (I thought) which turned into a large one. The new aftermarket windshield, IMO is better than the Ford one that came with the truck.

I just had mine replaced and verfied both with Safelite and my local body shop that this is not aftermarket glass in the system for the Maverick just yet.

SPOILER. It's expensive. Especially if you have CP360.

Getting the Ford glass at no cost to me. Have had problems before with after market having flat spots.

The Lariat has an acoustic windshield and then there's the camera for ACC that has to be recalibrated once the windshield is replaced. The recalibration adds a few hundred to the cost. The aftermarket windshields are just as good or better than the OEM ones.

You can buy the kit for a chip or crack and do it yourself, too. Takes 30-60min depending on skill following instructions. Autozone etc... has them.

I repaired a good bullseye crack and then it survived several winters in NY and the heat of a few summers of SC.

Agreed on aftermarket. Hopefully by the time I need the next one aftermarket glass will be available.

Well, there are no after market windshields on the market yet, so Ford it is. Now how long to get one.

$. 635 out the door from a mobile place in san diego( we usually pay more) .
This was for factory ford sound screen for a lariat .
Expect around 700 and I would insist to get the sound screen , only like 20$ difference at whosale buy . The anti collision camera calls ration is a joke . 90% of the places don’t do it and if they do it’s just a plug in and reset function .
Good way for them to get $300 for the install .
whosale glass for ford is mid $300’s right now for sound screen .

Funny thing is 87 bronco full size , $140 installed !
With tint stripe at top and removing and replacing aluminum trim around windshield frame and it’s ford glass!
