I've read about many other owners experiencing a leak from the cowl into the front cabin, usually on the passenger side. Thank you to those who have posted about this.

I normally park my truck in a garage so I suspect that a slow leak was already present and mold growth was occurring for a while. Over the past several months I did smell mildew. I thought it was the floor mats getting wet from going in and out of the car or a window left down during a brief rain squall. Luckily I parked my truck outside for a week and we had thunder storms. The leak was this exposed as there was enough water in the front passenger floor that you could hear it like squeezing a sponge. I got on the forum and learned that I potentially was a leak from the cowl area.

My truck has been at the dealership going on 3 weeks. The entire cabin is gutted and they bagged the truck to treat the extreme amount of mold that was growing on the carpets, fire wall padding etc. It will be at least 4 weeks I will be without my truck.

Please check your trucks after a strong rain. The thought of driving around with mold in my cabin with my family exposed to it is concerning. I already reported this to the national transportation safety [888)327-4236. I hope anyone else that experiences this will do so as well. We can help the maverick community avoid a potential health hazard by prompting a recall or at least bringing attention to the water intrusion.

I'm with you, I am sorry to report.

My Mav has been in the hospital since March 21. I was told a leak was found in the passenger front area the day after I dropped it, with no further word at all from the doctors. Meanwhile, my phone is telling me the battery is going into a deep sleep. That's scary!

I am in a loaner, which is appreciated.

Sorry to hear this happened to your maverick. For those who have this issue what is the best way to check and see if it's leaking? Just take your hand and feel the top of floor board near the glove box?

I did not need anyone to tell me there was a problem. Anyone within 10 feet of the vehicle were aware there is a problem.

I'll bet a bunch of you park in a garage. Leave it out in the rain awhile before your warranty ends. You don't want a leak, but better to find it while mother ford is paying.

Submitted a complaint as well. I am 1k over my extended warranty and the dealer I am dealing with is basically telling me too bad so sad. But they will let me trade it in. I bought the vehicle brand new just over a year ago after over a year wait.
I am also unable to smell the mold/mildew due to Covid (2020). My truck apparently stinks terribly and I have had no idea.
then after a hard rain last week I had to grab something from the floorboard that fell and noticed it was wet. Pull back the mat and BOOM….mold on top of the carpet.
Knowing that my son is asthmatic and has a mold allergy it infuriates me that Now I’m being told I’ll have to pay out of pocket for a manufacture defect that I was unable to identify due to my inability to smell mildew or sit on the passenger side barefoot to notice the issues.
I’m beside myself. A brand new vehicle that is paid for but this isn’t a recall or something that FORD is paying for. I have owner 4 previous FORDS and I waited almost 2 years to get this one. I will NEVER deal with ford again after this.
To be getting the response I have gotten from everyone involved is just sad.
not covered under the warranty, no loaner vehicles.
im not taking my vehicle back until all the carpet and matting is replaced. I can’t put my son in that truck but yet no one is doing anything??????????

My dad owned a Auto Glass shop growing up, a trick he taught me to find a leak is mix together a solution of really soapy water, going a little section at a time douse the area around where the windshield is glued to the frame or other suspected area. Take an air hose and blow air from the inside area that you are checking, if there is a leak it will most likely create bubbles with the soapy water.

I've seen this work with windshields, back-glasses, moon roofs, and tires.

Sorry to hear about this issue. What year is your maverick? Does anyone know where and what to look for on the cowl that may be the culprit of these leaks?

Somewhere on passenger side.

All the soundproofing and insulation was moldy and had to be replaced. The truck was in the dealership for a month.

OMG!! That's horrible. I posted about my experience. Luckily? I live in the PNW where it rains a lot. And was able to catch my leak fairly early on. Dealer didn't gut my interior like yours but was able to find the leak and correct. My truck was in the shop for like 3 or 4 days to air out and subsequent rain storms haven't shown any leaks. So sorry you had to go through this.

We are going through this same mold issue too. We are not backing down. Ford should take responsibility and pay out.

Report the issues with NTSB so it becomes a recall issue
