I hear ya, I made up a couple sets of prototype bed tracks with aircraft type cargo track, and was shut down when people went nuts over them. Made a set for me and a friend, that was it.

Maybe post up some pix of the brackets by themselves? I am really good at fabrication and reverse engineering. I work as a fabricator in the aviation industry.

Heres the tracks I drilled up, and made stainless steel end caps for.

I was pretty impressed with how my 91 octane tune was feeling, and I needed to swap back to my summer tires, so I did another comparo between the snow tire/steelie combo, and the Bronco Sport/ProContact combo. 12.80 vs 12.54. Not too shabby to be running 12.50s on my 91 octane tune! I'm switching back to my summer setup because I'm trying to go to the track on new years, if they don't cancel!

I know I would love for my AWD to be a 6 speed manual. Everything I own is stick shift. First automatic vehicle I have bought for myself since 1987. I suppose I will get used to the "dial a gear setup" (insert eyeroll here)
Similar thought. Every truck I own is a manual. Stick shift trucks are cheap as most folks now can’t drive them.

Hello Again! 2 months have passed, and I have done nothing with my Mav! However, I keep saying I would do a breakdown on the costs of what I have spent on my build, so today I did just that.

Price Breakdown:
Intercooler and Couplers: $380
Intake: $35
Colder Plugs: $20
Downpipe: $25 for the flexpipe, the rest was leftover piping.
Vibrant 3" resonator: $122
Vibrant 3" muffler: $132
Tonneau Cover: $160
3/8" Fuel Line and Fuel Hose Clamps: $85
Brass Bulkheads: $11
525LPH Fuel Pump: $141
5Star Tunes: $250
Corsair Turbo: $350
Bronco Sport Wheels: $120
Water Meth Kit: $200

Total for everything: $2,031

Total without tonneau cover and fueling stuff(I don't believe the larger pump and components were needed): $1,634

This list is the cost of things shipped to my door, or picked up.

Mind you, this was all done with my labor. To have someone do this stuff would probably be in the $2k range. I just thought this would be good for people to see if you want to do the work yourself. There are MUCH better quality parts out there, but obviously the price goes up!

Happy Modding!

Hey guys, I'm back with more cheap shenanigans! Someone online, named Eric Bernard, found out the volvo s60r/v70r front 4 piston calipers bolt right onto our Mav's! I ordered a set, and have some work to do on them, but they do in fact bolt up! As they sit, they just BARELY touch my Bronco Sport wheels. The wheel still free spins, but slightly contacts the caliper.

However, the caliper itself is not perfectly centered on the rotor, so the mounting surfaces on the caliper will need to be milled down slightly. I didn't have a lit of time, so I couldn't see it all set up with the pads in place to see where it will contact the rotor face, but it should be pretty spot on. More to come when I get them milled and fully installed! I'll post pics and some pricing here shortly!

I cant wait until there is like a dozen easy stock part mods that turn any maverick into a beast. Awesome find!

So, pricing on these was just under $400 shipped from rock auto. I will post a more definitive post when I can get then done and mounted. It looks like even the factory line will work, unless the threads are different for some reason. That I am unsure of.

I bought pads, hardware kit, and calipers for a 2007 Volvo S60R.

That volvo weighs 3700ish lbs and tows 3300lbs. 70 to 0 is 168ft compared to 235 tired Maverick at 172ft. Should be a good upgrade considering the Maverick has significant computer upgrades that help haul it down.

Ok, I did the test fitting on the other side. It was actually off farther than the first side! The passenger side will need milled down .070" to be on center of the factory rotor, and the driver's side will need .115" milled down. I will probably only do like .090" as I don't want to remove too much material from the mounting tabs. The driver's side had a lot more contact with the bronco sport wheel. Hopefull after milling down, everything will clear just fine.

Onto the brake lines. I did some research on the fittings, and it looks like Ford uses inverted flare for the fittings, and volvo uses bubble flare. I know the volvo brembo calipers are 10x1.0mm thread, but I'm not positive on the Maverick's thread yet. The one place I found said the 2021 escape was 10x1.5mm, but I'm not believing that yet till I have more info. Almost all brake fittings are 10x1.0. They don't make a fitting to adapt, so I may actually make the fittings myself. I'll keep the thread updated!

Brake upgrades provide benefits, but shortened stopping distance is not one of them. That comes down to tires. See this article from Road & Track magazine.

I don't think it will be very accurate to compare the Volvo's stopping distance since it's on different tires than the Mav. And if that model Volvo costs more than the Mav, it's reasonable to expect that the tires are probably better than the Mav's as well.

If you want to get the most out of your brakes, whether they're stock or upgraded, use better tires than what came on the XL from the factory. @Dueces - I hope that's a part of your plan (I haven't read your whole build thread).

I won't upgrade the tires at the same time as the brakes, as that wouldn't allow an apples to apples comparison for how good the brakes are compared to stock. Most people understand the huge benefit of quality tires, but that has no bearing on what I'm doing here. If I ever want to track my Mav on more than just a Drag Strip, then I would be looking at a host of different mods, and one of those being tires.
