Finally finished the 2019 ford escape project, so QuikRik is getting it's Brembos today!

Ok, Brembos are on! They have been tested, bedded, and ready to party!

First off, I once again want to thank Eric Bernard for finding out these Volvo S60/V70 4 pots would fit! He seems like a younger version of me, and I think that's awesome! Lol

So I think I gave a list of parts needed, and the little bit of machining needed, to get this done. The last piece of the puzzle, which I screwed up on at first, was the brake lines!

HEL performance is a USA made brake line company, that uses proprietary fittings made in house that will fit both inverted, and bubble flare fitted lines!. You can go to their website and build the lines as needed, and each line cost $59. We need two lines, so that's $118, but with free shipping. So I thought that was pretty dang good!

So, onto the install. Very basic. Remove the caliper, and caliper bracket, and leave the rotor on, unless you are upgrading that.

What I did before removing the soft line, was I prepped the new calipers by putting the pads in, with the pins and flat spring in place first, and then installing the brake line to the caliper. This way, as soon as you remove the factory line, you can put the new one on. You can also pre-mount the caliper to the knuckle, as I was able to bleed the calipers with them in place.

So, miunt the caliper, break the fitting loose, then remove the holding clip from the line and fully remove line and old caliper as one unit. Toss that aside and quickly put on the new line, tightening it up enough to stop the dripping.

Here is how I bled each side. Once it was fully tightened up, I opened the outer bleeder screw and had the wife depress the brake pedal all the way to the floor and hold it. No pre pumping. Just one push, and that was enough to remove all air from the new line. Then I completed the outer side bleed, then the inner, and all was good! I bled each side as I did it.

I'll add what pics I took, but it wasn't too many as I was slightly rushed.

Now that that post is out of the way, I'll explain my quick test I did! After doing a few 35-5 hardish slowdowns, I did a 60-0 again the same way I did it stock. I started at about 68mph, blasted the brakes, and went to 0.

Results: 117' 60-0, 8 feet WORSE than the stock setup! Three reasons for this.

1. The first test was done with the much lighter Bronco Sport wheels. This test was done with steelies with brand new tires. Probably in the realm of 10-12lbs heavier per corner.

2. This test, the brakes were grabbing so hard, the ABS was on from about 50-45mph down to zero, as opposed to my stock test, where it was maybe the last 5mph down to zero. Long story short, I need stickier tires!

3. The brake pads are probably not fully bedded in yet. These brakes grab HARD! With better tires, I bet I would see in the very low 100's for distance!

Got some new, accurate data on the weight of the steelies. Had to steal some tires off my new set of steelies, so I weighed one of them, and with the tpms and a small wheel weight, it weighs 26.0-26.2lbs.

I did this two different ways, to try and verify in case the scale was off.

1st, straight weight, which was 26.0lbs.
2nd, me holding the rim vs my weight alone, which showed 26.2lbs.

Just adding this for info, because you can never have enough info!!!

respectfully, I find that a bit strange.

I haven't done any 60-0 testing ever. however,
every modern vehicle I've ever autocrossed or been unlucky enough to need to panic emergency brake does engage abs continuously when the brake is applied with massive force. if the pads aren't overheated you'll get enough force to lock the wheel which engages abs of course.

I remember specifically thinking it was weird my abs didn't engage earlier in my first test on the factory brakes, but I didn't know if it should or not.

I don't why it didn't come on until the very end on the first run, but I know this time it left plenty of rubber on the ground in my rear view.

I do have my Bronco Sport wheels on right now, so maybe I can do a more apples to apples comparo now.

Well, I did try a 60-0 tonight, after the rain mostly dried up, and with the bronco sport wheels, it stopped in 106.9ft, with the abs coming on around 25mph. Idk if I just modulated the throttle better, or if for some reason these tires just bite better, but they are the exact same tires, so idk. I still feel that with some stickier tires this would be in the really low 100s, if not high 90s.

I also hit the brakes hard after doing a full pull the other day, and it was insane how fast they shed the speed! Overall, I'm pretty happy with how these things perform!

Hello again, it's been a while!

I just got my truck back from the dealership, for two big issues I was having.

First, I started to get the dreaded axle shake, and it got pretty bad! So they just replaced both front axles.

Second, and WAY more importantly, the transmission died. Yep, I found the limit of the trans! Or did I? Two of the solenoids got stuck, one on and one off, and forced the failure of the trans.

Now, obviously what I have done to this Mav played a part in the failure, but I do not know exactly how much of a part it played.

So, here is the breakdown of how much this factory trans has done:

I tuned QuikRik at 1,000 miles, 12 days after getting it.

It ran it's first 13 second pass in early October of 22, 5 months after owning it.

It ran it's first 12 second pass 45 Days later in November of 22.

I put the Corsair Turbo on it in January of 23, at roughly 20,000 miles.

So this trans has lasted all of my trial and error, over 56,000 miles of being tuned, and the number of 1/4 mile passes is just insane! You're welcome, lol.


If you are on the fence of getting a tune or not, the transmission will not be an issue! Period.

sorry to hear that! I agree that you proved the transmission is pretty tough. did you get any of that covered under warranty, or if not, what are you in for transmission repair / replacement?

Well, the actual failure of the trans was the solenoids, lol. so yes, it was done under warranty.

I am definitely not complaining! I was fully ready to do it all myself. It probably would have been in the $3k range plus my time to do it myself.
