I’ve seen so many posts about the hybrid having grabby brakes and needing a software update from the dealer as a possible fix, but not one single thread about this happening on the eco boost.

When applying gradual pressure to the pedal, it’s nothing…nothing…nothing until it finally just grabs hard and stops abruptly. Maybe I’m just a little slow and there is a setting or a quick fix I don’t know about. Anyone experiencing the same problem and/or know what to do to correct it?

I absolutely love my maverick otherwise, but this issue is making me not want to drive it.

It's gets better. The brakes are very aggressive initially until the pads and rotors get burnished. Also your foot will learn to go easy. It took 3-4K miles in mine before the brakes got more progressive feeling. This vehicle will stop quickly but with anti-lock, the brakes will not lock the wheels.

I don't remember this at all when I got my Ecoboost. Brakes were very progressive from day one. But brake feel is like steering feel - so subjective it's hard to compare notes between any two people.

My '24 was built on the last week of feb and so far nothing yet 🙂. Did you ask your stealership about it?

Only thing I noticed on mine was the brakes felt a little touchy, but I also have a secondary vehicle I drive solely to work and back so swapping between the Mav which is new and my 02 explorer the braking is way different as far as foot pressure. Doesn’t really answer your question but just my two cents, I never really thought mine were grabby as you described.

Not yet, I was waiting to hear opinions from other owners before I went that route.

Not progressive at all for me. Very abrupt and giving my passengers whiplash. I’m not a rookie on the road and have had many vehicles over the years that you adjust to and come to stops smoother than butter. I sure hope it’s the pads as others have suggested… I have 1.1k on it now and it’s not getting any better. Driving in traffic is an absolute nightmare.

I sure hope so… I’m at 1.1k, and it’s not getting any better.

I can report mine are touchy on occasion. Seems like at slow speed first time I hit the brakes in a parking lot or coming out of my driveway. I have my foot steady on brake and the pedal sinks a bit like the pedal loses pressure or resistance and stop more abruptly. Definitely worse when raining.

Be patient. My 2022 Lariat EB were very grabby also until brakes broke in around 4K miles. The brakes operate perfectly now and I wish I had same brake feel on my other vehicle.

Yes, I feel the ecoboost brakes are touchy on my 24 Lariat ecoboost. Nothing like the hybrid brakes though. I've gotten used to it and assumed it was the typical over boosted Ford brake feel as compared to some other mfgs. Something to note is that if you check the 2024 order guide it shows the Lariat 2.0L ecoboost as having electronic brake boost which XL/XLT does not. Not sure why the difference between models.

Maybe the electronic brake boost might be the culprit. I wonder if there is a way to disable it and see if it makes a difference.… maybe I should just give it some time to break in as others suggested (around 4K), and reassess when the time comes. I just really dislike driving now because of this one issue. I love this little truck otherwise.

Is it getting better over time or are you just dealing with it? If it stays the same for me, and there is no fix….. might be a deal breaker.
