Nope. Vehicles can and should be able to drive 40,000 miles in a year.
Right, Severe duty shouldn't be confused with duty cycle.
Severe duty is towing, extreme temperature operation, high speed.

Many on the forum have stated that driving hybrids too little is problematic (deep sleep, etc.). I beg to differ, I drive a lot of miles annually and had no-start issues all of the time with my Maverick.

Congrats on the F-150! Lots of hybrids over the past few weeks giving up the ghost randomly and Ford saying they see no issues when people bring them in.... I have my fingers crossed. I have not done any of the software updates yet and will hold off for now...
I firmly believe this was due to the updates. However, it's not my first time at the dealer. I brought it in about a month after getting tires thinking it was a wheel balance issue to find that I needed a new CV axle. After getting that replaced along with the recalls, I had this problem a few weeks later.

My buddy just bought a new to him used 2019 F150. Back at dealer 5 times now. Radio going crazy. Plug in phone doesnt work. GPS built in doesn't work. More issue I cant remember. I think he bought someone elses lemon. I wouldnt have been so quick to jump ship. BUT good luck to you.
I'm not jumping quick, I've spent as much time waiting on parts as I have not. I can deal with a radio not working, or a GPS issue, I do on the Mav regularly as it is.... I'm not able to trust this truck though. The EcoBoost has a longer history, and high miles are not necessarily the culprit of problems with it, if you regularly maintain it. I've been changing the oil at 5K miles, the truck I'm buying has had the same up to now.

The first sign that my hybrid is going down this type of road, I am taking it to the dealer and buying a used Toyota sitting on their lot and saying goodbye to Ford for another 35 years. I have driven Toyota's for 35 years. My last Ford became a brick and I got rid of it in 1989. Lost money. Got nothing for it. The reason why I got rid of it was because it kept having "electrical issues" (would die on the freeway, battery wouldn't hold a charge, electric fan would not turn on). Funny how here we all are, 35 years later, and it seems that the Maverick is producing the same issues I had in 1986-1989.
It’s interesting to see your post. My father in law was an engineer at GM for 30 years and has always had a Chevy or GMC. His current $60,000 truck has been at the dealer now for the third time and totally well over a 6 weeks of time between the three services all for leaking oil that never gets resolved. Even his loaner truck turned off in the middle of an intersection (another $60,000 truck) mid turn. Thankfully it turned back on. Long story short he says he is buying a Toyota or Honda if it doesn’t get resolved this time.

An unreliable vehicle is a royal pain if you only have 1 vehicle. I've had a Lemon BMW, Porsche 911, but had a clunker to get me around until they were fixed....My patience would also be limited...But with 22,000 miles on my 2022 Maverick XLT I've had only minor issues and never broken down....by far my most reliable vehicle in many years.

So many vehicle features are today dependent on 3rd party electronics manufacturers. I've had dozens of Hondas that never failed, but now Honda is struggling with 3rd party electronic failures.

I have been a toyota guy for a long time, got my wife a 2017 Avalon and I had to replace the rear struts at 50K, same with my son's on his 2016 Camry at 65K
My vehicles see allot of duty in Mexico nowadays... I never get 40k miles out of struts/shocks. :)

Back to my 'Know when to fold them experience' with the Neon...
No, that Neon didn't make it to 10k miles with us.... it's first shop visits for breakdowns were before it was even broken in for transmission issues...

Just to balance things out.... I have had my 2023 Maverick Hybrid for one year now. A few recalls for software updates. No other issues/problems. Knock on wood. It's been a great truck so far.

Haven't done recalls yet and don't plan on it in future . dealerships don't seem to have techs or mechanics who are qualified to perform without causing more problems . so far so good other than recalls .

LOL Toyota- yea they are trouble free.
You owned dinosaurs- not hard to be reliable when you're not changing anything.
If you think the Toyota of yesteryear is what you're buying now, you high as kite.

Well he might be high but JD and power rated Lexus number one, we all know is a glorified Toyota, and Toyota number 2

I had an event on my way to work last Friday… I’m driving along and get a message all of Sudden that the truck will change to the selected gear once I reach an appropriate speed. I had no accelerator pedal, and the truck would just coast, I was in the center lane of 3 in my direction. Fortunately I was right at a rest area and was able to stop. Unfortunately I got to see the guys at the Ford dealer and pay for a $380 tow (submitted for reimbursement)…

I’m throwing in the towel. I asked f for the dealer to get me an appraisal on it, and they came in high enough to make it worth it for me. My 2022 XLT hybrid is still in the shop waiting on parts and I have a loaner until I get my new (to me) F150 all signed for.

The dealer is great, they do exactly what they should for the customer. But I think Covid killed the training that Ford corporate needed to make their trucks at a high caliber. Maybe not just for them, but also for their tower 2 and 3 suppliers…
Sorry to hear you had problems. My Ecobeast is doing great at 9250 miles and nearly a year of ownership. I’m not bragging but from what I’ve been hearing/reading, the Ecoboost is the only way to go. It doesn’t get get the high mileage but it also seems to be more reliable. Good luck with the F150.
