About $5k cheaper for a stock hybrid vs AWD Offroad. I love to hunt, and ice fish, and occasionally tow a couple ATVs. I really wish the 2.0 Turbo could come with a hybrid engine and AWD and could be switched on and off for the 4K towing capacity. I know this truck can't do everything but I'm so torn coming from a TDI Jetta getting 45mpg. UGH!!! Talk me into one or the other. I'd really like to know the real mpg specs on the gas AWD 4K off-road before I pull the trigger on one, since that's the way I'm leaning.

Sounds like you've already made your use case for the 2.0.

That said if your pulling under 2k the hybrid should be fine. I don't know how hunting works where you are, but getting vehicles into hunting areas can be difficult or illegal in some places, so having AWD might be a moot point for you? Also if the ATVs are for hunting, maybe the truck does not need AWD, and you can just depend on them.

You should probably get the 4k towing though, just so you have enough capacity to haul out your kills/catch. :D

Even though the hybrid is tempting, and certainly a strong option for certain work fleets or city folk... I just can't see it as a viable option since it can't pull a modest trailer or boat.
*cues shark tank theme* and for this reason, it's 2.0L and 4k package for me.

I saved myself the $5k to go ecoboost + tow package and another $20k by not buying a fishing boat. I decided a fishing kayak I can pay cash for and not have to register or insure is my best debt free fishing option. I’m really hoping Yakima gets some bed bars for the maverick onto the market before next spring lol.

That's a bit vague, as there are plenty of trailers and boats that a 4K package Maverick can't tow either. You really need to look at what specifically you are towing to figure out of the 2K or 4K is appropriate.

If you have a Tracker Pro 170 fishing boat, the hybrid can tow it just fine. If you have a Pathfinder 2600 fishing boat, even the 4K package ecoboost won't be enough.

That said, with two ATVs that's already probably 1K lbs, and you need a pretty big trailer for that, so 4K would be a no brainer.

Hi Vengo97. I've got it figured out for ya! I notice you also got a jeep. Presumably your hunting rig.
Toss that. Get AWD tow. You will be MPGs ahead right there. And keep the TDI for urban use.

Well the tentative plan is to sell the TDI on the private market right now since it's so hot and pocket the profit for a down payment on the Maverick. The Jeep is an 04 and really showing it's age. I think I'll drive that till fall, trade it in for whatever pittance I can get for it, and go with the AWD 4K and be back to one vehicle. I'm hoping that would offset some of the cost of the lower MPG with just one vehicle to insure. I just really had to convince myself that the AWD tow package was worth it for me. This will be my first new vehicle and getting the chance to actually order vs buy off the lot gives me some decision anxiety. I want an XLT with all the packages in Cactus Grey. If I could get the adaptive cruise and lane centering in an XLT I'd be such a happy camper.

Good plan. Congrats on this being your first new vehicle. Ford is a good choice. A 2000 F150 xl was my first new vehicle and almost no problems in 235k miles. The torsion link bolts in front kept snapping until I got smart and put cheaper aftermarket ones in. Rear U-joint, starter relay, muffler, and lower ball joints. That's about it. It had the little Windsor V6. I was very pleased and I think you will be too.

I know but we don’t know if they will work on the maverick. I assume they will but I definitely want some confirmation before I spend the loot. Now if only the damn fish would bite. Maybe it’s because I’m browsing my phone while fishing.

That is one of my concerns with the Maverick. I wish someone could take a picture of the underside rails of the bed. Is there a metal lip like traditional truck rail or did they not put a lip and just lay the plastic cap over it

If it is a lipped rail how much space for the pincher plates for rack systems etc?

Since there are pictures of a bed cab im hoping there is enough of a lip for strength and weight of a rack with contents and pincher plates

Since this isnt Fords first truck design it should be good.

I saw pictures or video of an open bed cover somewhere and it was clearly clamped into the bed in a way that I think makes it clear there is a lip there. I'll see if I can find it again.

Found it.

I wonder if Yakima would sell me a single overhaul HD bar. One of those on the bed and a rack on the roof would be perfect.

Well today was my SS127’s maiden voyage so I haven’t had a ton of seat time yet. It’s very high quality and bonafide really did a great job of thinking about how it should be laid out. Things are going exactly where you would want them. You should keep in mind that bonafide does not offer a pedal drive system so this boat is either going to be a paddler or need to be rigged with a motor. Personally I believe this is a kayak that’s really designed from the ground up to be built into a high end fishing kayak. It has mounts on the back for something like a minn kota or torquedo motor and still leave plenty of space for a couple of micro power poles. The center compartment can easily be rigged for fish finders as well. They also seemed to have put a priority on interior accessibility. Remove the huge hatch in front and the hatch in the rear and you should be able to run wires or cables with ease. I did notice it getting blown around quite a bit by the wind while at anchor so a good anchoring system is needed. I should also mention that it’s incredibly stable. I don’t know what you would have to do to tip this thing.

I would buy a bonafide if you want a good, base platform to build upon. I’ve seen what these things can be turned into and that’s why I bought it.
