I've been waiting for a radio company to come up with a larger screen for the Maverick, but I had another idea that I haven't seen espoused. Can I just get a larger touchscreen and connect it to my current radio?

Has anyone looked at the Maverick's radio or electric system to see if there's a screen input/output port? I was thinking I could build a frame to hold the new screen and have it all held in place by some kind of anchor in the cubby. This product on Amazon seems like a likely candidate, though 15" is probably too big. 11" (the size of current iPads) might be the best.

Has anyone had the dashboard out and seen if the radio has any video input/output ports? This would be way cheaper than a $500+ radio replacement...if anyone ever develops one.

Brilliant! Thanks.

Now I have to see if its a standard video connector or if it needs an adapter. What are the odds? Probably better than average. :)

I'm getting ready to look online, but does anyone know the answer already?

I removed the temperature dash to access speaker wiring for my amplifier. There appears to be only one imput jack for the screen. Plus, this system (screen/head unit) is highly integrated into the onboard computer and any changes may not work. In otherwords, you may not be able to do this. I have put in aftermarket head units with larger screens in other cars, but they came with a custom built wiring harness so all the touch screen functions as well as steering wheel functions work. Tread carefully here. Once you disconnect one thing, it can affect another.

When it comes to these trucks(and most recently built vehicles), upgrading anything with the factory head unit is not going to be cheap or convenient. I think there's one company that is selling(or are about to) a kit to replace the factory head unit with an aftermarket one, but it was limited to a double din sized screen/HU, so not a screen size improvement . The big improvement would be having a head unit that isn't garbage. It would be nice to have one that just worked, and that was easy to deal with when upgrading the stereo. A larger screen would be neat too, but anything involving that will likely be $$$.

I think the parts are out there to upgrade the head unit with one of the Alpine/Pioneer/Kenwood 9-11" remote screened head units, but it would be very expensive. By the time you get the head unit, and take the gamble on making the idatalink Maestro investment, on top of the labor/effort, you could easily be in the $1500-2000 range. If I had the extra money laying around, I'd totally try it. Unfortunately, I don't have that kind of $$.

Totally in agreement with you. Crutchfield is ahead of the game in this. They build the harness to your specifications. It will cost you, but everything will work. And you are correct, it is expensive to do this.

Thanks to everyone for responding. Yeah, I'm thinking my "brilliant" idea won't work. I saw a screen replacement for the Maverick on ebay, and the connection looks like the picture below. Definitely not a standard connector.

And in another picture it looked like there was a circuit board in the screen unit, which leads me to believe some/much/all of the processing is done in the screen rather than a CPU elsewhere in the truck.

I’ve seen on here or was it YouTube that someone tried this but the plug for the bigger screen was in a different place. But if you can build a bigger frame/cubby (3d print) there might be some hope.
My screen is fine though.

Given that the CPU in the stock radio can barely drive the current low resolution screen, a larger higher resolution screen would be an even worse experience.

Long ago, somebody posted that they swapped the small Mav screen with the larger one from his Bronco sport. I didn't see where he had move the Mav screen to the Bronco. I'd like that upgrade myself.

Bronco Sport's screen isn't bigger. It and the Maverick both are 8".

Although since even Sync4 systems have been swapped into the Maverick theoretically one of the Sync3 or Sync4 units with a larger screen might be doable.

Are all of the Maverick touchscreens the same size? I thought maybe it was larger in the Lariat. Was thinking I'd rather use that empty space next to the touchscreen for additional screen space as opposed to just the empty space it is.

They are all the same size. The cluster screen was larger in the Lariat and FX/4 trims.

Ford Authority came out with an article today saying it looked like the 2025 mavricks were getting a bigger screen. Once they come out there may be away to order those and retrofit into are older mavricks.
