Coming up on a service interval for my Maverick.

Anyone in the Houston Texas area recommend a good Ford Dealership with a good service department?

I have been to Ford Autonation Katy twice and will not be going back.

My in-laws use McRee Ford down in Dickinson. They seem to really like it. Been using them for years over several vehicles.
I don't have personal experience with them though.

Before I suggest, what turned you away from Autonation?
Decided to take my new Maverick in for an early flush oil change at 1200 miles. Took it to Autonation Ford Katy, dealership near me.

I called dealership and asked if I needed an appointment or just bring it in. They said schedule an appointment is always better. So I scheduled an appointment.

Took the Maverick in on an appointment for an oil change and it took almost 2 hours. I am not really going to get too upset on that, I can understand they can get busy.

Had the oil changed done and then noticed a week or so there are oil spots on my driveway. I looked under the truck and did see and feel oil around the seams of the skid plate.

I took it back the Autonation Ford Katy and explained it to the service tech and he told me I would need to leave it there for 4 days before they could look at. At that point, I had enough and started complaining. I guess some service manager overheard me and came over and said they would get it in and look at it.

They came back and said around the oil filter the original tech didn't clean around it. I asked specifically was there a leak around the filter. They said "no leaks".

What I can guess with what little information they gave me, there is a plate right under the oil filter. From oil change videos I have watched online, if you remove the oil filter without removing that plate, you can spill oil onto that plate. I am guessing that's what happened. This is sloppy work.

2 trips to a Ford Dealership for an oil change and also having to get sideways with them....and then 3 to 4 days of putting cardboard under the truck to gain any confidence the problem they created was fixed, I am done with Autonation Ford Katy Dealership. Still have stains on the driveway that need to be cleaned.

I would drive further to another dealership in the Houston area to get better service.

RE: ... leave it for 4 days... dealers must have all gone to the same customer service seminar where they learned if they tell that to a customer, the customer goes away. My dealer said exactly the same thing after I had a service related problem. 4 days... B.S.

Now I do my own oil changes...

Tommie Vaughn has an excellent service writer (KC) and the service manager makes things right when things go wrong
I have had some issues with one of the techs though
As long as that guy doesn’t touch it you will be fine
He had to buy me a new dash and pay for some paintwork…. I can’t imagine he still works there though
Sadly the two amazing techs I used to use for side work on my F150 moved to non dealership jobs

My dad has had good luck with them working in his truck

Stellar review I know

Is Autonation Katy a Quick Change station? I use Planet Ford Quick Change for both wife’s Escape and my old F250. Satisfactory so far. Haven’t let them take a crack at the Maverick, yet. That’s coming up soon, fir oil n filter change.

Now when I talk to the service writers, my first question is “Are your technicians qualified?” They would say,” Of course they are.” Then I say “We’ll see after I inspect the work before leaving the premises”.

And I remind them I know the big boss service mgr, Brad, spoken to him often.

Long ago, before Planet had built the Quick Change shop, they did oil n fuel filter changes in a smaller, original shop. Took SD in for fuel filters change. Got truck back, fuel leaking. Bad. Called desk writer out to check. Turned out a tech, prob new to SD diesels messed up case. Cracked. They not have another in stock. TOld them to steal one off new truck on lot. They had more experience tech do repairs. When got truck back, told serine writer, I’m not happy. Why? They not wipe it down of residue. Plus got hands on interior, reeks of diesel smell.

But since open new Quick Change, things seem better.

I have used Mac Haik ford, and had a nice experience while having a tsb done. No questions asked, they had it done in a reasonable amount of time.

I go to Demontrond Ford near Cleveland, 59N, small town feel. Helps that I live that way. I refuse to take it to Planet Ford 59N.

I've had all my various vehicle warranty work done there. They're nice enough to have shop managers test drive with you so they understand exactly what you're complaining about and how to replicate.
