Just got my 2024 XLT Hybrid back from the dealer for a water leak. As a recap, only a few weeks old and discovered a pool of water under the floorliners I put in. Managed to get the original dealership to take me in despite there being a backlog of customers waiting for other repairs. What was on the service summary was:

Water leaking in through HVAC Box, down past the BCM and onto the passenger floorboard. Lower Cowl seal for the cabin air intake defective. Removed engine bay cowls to access defective part. Damaged seal caused water leak and is apart of the lower cabin air intake cover.

The dealership did keep my car for several days and had fans blowing on it to dry out the floorboard and as far as I can tell, it's dry now. I was concerned it was going to smell like mold but I'm happy to say that when I picked it up today, it still has the new car smell.

It's going to rain this weekend so I'm going to take it out for a long drive to see if everything is sealed tight or if there is still a leak. Crossing fingers.

Mold can take weeks to begin showing signs.

To kill off any remaining bacteria get an ozone machine. Make sure to follow the instructions as it can make you sick if not done properly. The ozone will kill off all bacteria. I use mine every 3 months. I am one of those degenerates that smokes. I have had nonsmokers tell me my vehicles never smell like smoke.

Do you have a recommendation for one?

I picked mine up a few years back off the Jungle website, Amazon. Think mine does 1200sq foot. I use it in the house too. I can not remember the brand. I do remember it is blue though lol. If I want to say it was just under 100 bucks.

Useful to know, thank you so much for giving the update. Is there any way to know how the dealer figured it out? Water test? Experience with others? Just curious.

Unfortunately, I didn't ask how they tested. The day I dropped it off it was pouring rain and so I'm sure they were able to find the leak. They did say water was in the cabin air filter so I'm sure they just followed the trail. I don't know how they tested it after the fix but this weekend it's supposed to rain again so I'm going to drive it and test to see if the seal holds up. Otherwise it's going back again

Bought my 2022 Maverick this year from a dealership, 41 thousand km's on it. I want to love this truck because it is everything I need, however it is very difficult. I have spent more time in a courtesy vehicle than the truck itself. It was in the Ford dealer to get water leaking issue resolved for the past 30 plus days, apparently the seal they thought was the problem was on back order. Day 2 having it back and I again have a wet floor under the floor mat of the passenger side of my vehicle. To say I am frustrated is an understatement, at this point I am embarrassed to even talk about the truck in front of coworkers and friends. Is there anything I can do? The dealership has been helpful but it seems to be a never ending issue.

I'm sorry to hear that. I still haven't confirmed if the leak is truly fixed but as I mentioned previously, the dealer was able to see where water was coming from based on the amount of water that penetrated the cabin when I was driving up there in the rain. Not sure if you are in a rainy area but that's when the dealership should inspect it. I'm not sure shooting water from a garden hose would necessarily identify a leak.

Kinda sad they still have not fixed this issue. I know it's not something everyone has but whatever is causing it needs to be addressed at the production level. This should not be happening.

I didn't have water in the glove box. Just on the floorboard and apparently the interior cabin air filter as well. However, the glove box sits right in front of the cabin filter so I'm wondering if you have teh leak as well. Have you checked your floorboard carpet?

I would check the windshield seal. To do this is simple, just run the heater fan on high to pressurize the cabin, close all doors and windows, and dab soapy water around the outside glass seal and look for bubbles.

Hopefully by year 5 or when the truck sale slows down, Ford will focus more on quality. Although historically, Ford is not known for quality. In saying that, I haven't had issue with my MY24 ecoboost Maverick and it's the best vehicle I've owned so far. Even more than my previous 2007 Nissan 350Z.

Made another appointment for the truck to be looked at, I am not optimistic about what is going to be found. I am not by any means brand loyal, but I am getting to the point of being brand disloyal...

I don't think that will work on the Maverick. There are big air release flaps under the rear seat, so its really hard to pressurize the cab.
