In reverse, it's not boosting power, it is the power.
If you want to learn something, I'm glad to teach you. The hybrid operating strategy is non-intuitive.

If you don't care, I'm not wasting my time. You let me know.

Never claimed to be smart, but if the transmission doesn't have a reverse gear there can only be one thing that makes the Maverick Hybrid go backward...

Actually the Hybrid has better/larger cooling capacity than the 2k EcoBoost. It may rival or beat the 4k in cooling.
Plus the Atkinson cycle engine generates less heat than the EcoBoost by design.

Cooling is not the weakest link.
The transmission is not the weakest link.
Torque is not the weakest link.
Horsepower almost all the time is not the weakest link, but occasionally could be. Once in a while FWD becomes the weakest link.

The hybrid doesn't have enough power to safely tow 4K (or even 3K) up hills.

I have owned V8s with less power than the hybrid. It is fine.
It really is.
I've tested it out several times in very demanding conditions.

There is an on board stored value for 100% Torque Reference Point in the computer of your truck. The value in my Hybrid Maverick: 245.6 lb./ft.

Peak torque in the hybrid occurs when the electric motor and gas motor are pulling at the same time.

One experimenter on this site got 267 lb./ft. for a short time out of his hybrid.

I would argue no one runs ANY truck continuously at peak output.

Short time it could pull 10K. You can argue all you want but it will be working full time pulling more than 2K up hill in the mountains. I had a 191 HP ecoboost with a 2K tow package for cooling and it struggled pulling 2K uphill while I watched the transmission temp creep up. I'm sure you know more than the Ford engineers though.

Can the truck pull it down the road under ideal circumstances? I'm sure it can. First, a trailer that is rated at 2k is the best case when they certify and the trailer and will almost always weigh more on a retail unit. Next people will load gear in both the truck and the trailer which will far surpass the rating of the hybrid maverick. Again, can it pull the weight? I'm sure, but is it safe for you and the people around you? Tail sway is going to be a big issue with these small lightweight trucks pulling RV's or other large-sided trailers. If you have to avoid something it wouldn't take much to lose control. There are always going to be people who say, "It's fine" and most times it may be but you are putting others at risk. Manufacturers love to brag of capability so do you think they underrate vehicles? Sure, they leave a little wiggle room but keep it as close as they feel the vehicle is capable of.

I can tell you that 2,000 will be the safe limit for towing in the mountains with a hybrid. Even then it will be a struggle on long hills. My Bronco Sport with 2,000 pound towing (same horsepower as the hybrid and a larger transmission cooler for towing) was right on the edge when towing on long upgrades. It was fine on level ground but the transmission got hot towing up long grades and the engine struggled. It's why I traded it for the Maverick with 4K. Anyone telling you you can tow anywhere safely over the tow rating is full of crap. Will it tow over 2,000? sure. Will it tow safely? Ford says no. The hybrid doesn't have the power or the transmission for towing safely beyond it's tow limit. Somewhere there's a weak point. You don't want to find it.
The hybrid does not struggle on hills at all. Thanks to the added torque of the electric motor, even passing up hill is easy puling a small camper.

Those turbos really do heat up an engine. 191HP Turbo is not going to run cool like a 191HP NA engine.

To say that the hybrid struggles to tow is a load of crap, and will only be from someone who hasn't towed with a Hybrid. My trailer is under 2,000# but 7 1/2' tall. My truck hauls it effortlessly. I have been 80mph up a long hill, and could've went MUCH faster, as that was no more than 50% power level. To say the Hybrid will struggle towing up a hill is simply not true.
