I knew much more about my truck than the salesman did, both at purchase and (a year and a half later) delivery times.

The dealership didn't have a 2023 price sheet and option numbers sheet, so I showed him the one I had downloaded from the MTC. They had also never heard of MTC.
Their job is to sell cars and add-ons, NOT to know anything about their product.

You didn't do this? Actually, one can just look at the mirrors and easily tell they are either manually or electrically operated, without opening the truck door.

I get that. My point is that the salesman was not wrong that an XL can have electric adjustable mirrors, and that your reading about the XL no-go was conditionally false.

Your truck doesn't have them which is somewhat of a bummer, but in my opinion not really unless someone else drives your truck often and needs to move the mirrors. I think missing CP360 blind spot notification would matter a lot more to me.

I live where it snows. Not like Ontario, but it exists. XLT lux and Lariat lux have heated mirrors and they are well worth it.

Just got 2024 XL. Nice young guy salesman. No complaints. I asked specifically about electric control of exterior mirrors. If that was not an option on XL that’s a no go and I'd have been moving to XLT. He called me back to assure me it was a non issue. Now that I have the car home, I spent a while with the owners manual and then called him. “Please send photo, that’s weird” said he’d investigate. That was an hour ago. Guessing he doesn’t want to call back Dude: just take a moment before saying yes. Sheesh. Not a show stopper but c’mon

If I had known the forum existed, yes, for sure. Everything came together pretty fast. This all turned into a much more involved discussion than I intended and sorry to waste everyone's time. I just come from the school of "let's go the extra few yards to answer the customer question" It was just an observation. Pretty minor in the larger world context.

See..I've got the best of both worlds - heated mirrors and CP180 - with no blind spot monitoring and the better blindspot mirror!

I've taken words of a salesperson before without verifying, that's when I was young and naive. Been burnt a few times, but now I verify everything. We live, we learn.

The point of this thread is "DO NOT ASSUME CAR SALESMEN KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT WHAT THEY ARE SELLING". I learned this long ago, and it is not just a Ford Maverick salesman issue. I have had to tell the salesman which vehicle models have what options, and even had to tell a salesman that he had the model vehicle on his lot that I wanted.
