how is the dash cam going to record the pedals? all they record is what happens outside the vehicle. sounds to me like your kid didnt touch the brake pedal and doesnt want to admit it. brakes are mechanical and just dont fail unless there is physical damage to the system. all maverick have the precollision assist. "ASSIST" doesnt make it a nanny for your kid to not pay attention.
The "Assist" has already, "Scolded me Twice"... o_O
I KNOW it works... ;)

As a former Auto Claims Adjuster, loved it when dash camera footage was available.

Could be from any vehicle nearby or the ones involved.

Especially when audio is enabled.
Many times it was a double edged sword where one party can be seen "at fault".

But, it also can ding the driver "not at fault", like excessive speed for road conditions, failure to brake, failure to swerve, failure to take evasive action, etc....
For example, having the "right of way" is not an end all be all.

Sometimes insurance would have to settle at 90/10 or 80/20, when 1 driver had the right of way or not majority at fault, but they may have failed to react in time at all or pay attention (documented via dash cam).

Could be very nitpicky and armchair quarterback type reviews.

Loved dash cam analyzing on repeat and slow motion.
Comparing video to posted speed limits, local rules of the road in effect at time of accident, traffic conditions, weather conditions, rights of way, even severity of braking, swerving, accelerating or lack thereof.

Driving with a dash cam makes me a more aware and cautious driver because of how that data is used.

Would love to see the Dash Cam footage from this claimed brake failure.

Was this a hybrid? They break a little different sometimes especially at low speeds.

This thread, so far, is the equivalent of someone dropping ass in a crowded room then leaving right away with everyone else scrambling to find the cause.

Glad to hear that your Daughter is OK. Since our Mavericks are equipped with an Event Data Recorder, FMC should be able to determine what happened.
Exactly.
The data recorder should tell if brake pedal was being pressed and whether ABS operated, at the exact moment of the collision.

Also, aren't airbags supposed to not deploy at speeds under 30mph?

no, air bags will deploy at any speed. if you are sitting at a stop sign and get rear ended, depending on the g force the air bags will deploy.

Used to be an Auto Claims Adjuster.

Had an elderly lady claim her brakes failed when reversing from a parking spot.

Long story short, she never pressed the brake.
Her foot pressed the gas, and when she panicked, she floored the gas, thinking it was the brake.
Hit 5 parked cars and a large sign with landscaping.

Just over $100k in liability damages.

Cost insurance over $4k fee to Mercedes Dealer just to pull the black box data and confirm this.

She denied all of it (truly believed she pressed the brake) and refused to ever drive her car again.
We paid for 4 months of a rental car while waiting for official dealer results.

Expensive nonsense.
Which is one reason auto insurance has increased dramatically in past years.
Anyone recall the ‘braking claims’ on Audi 500 cars years ago?

What was the ‘message’? Was it audible or a dash message?

Forgot, mentioned dashcam because “you can hear daughter slamming the brake and it hitting floor board “. The collision guy tried to start engine and said the brake went to floor.

You can hear the brake pedal hitting the floor numerous times on the dashcam
