Use a hair dryer not a heat gun. Much more forgiving. Inside out of wind. Heat slowly and press out with a gloved hand. Slowly work it out from edges to center. The plastic wants to go back to the set of the original shape. Once shape is returned you may be able to buff it with a scotch brite pad to restore the texture. Watch some YouTube videos on this first for starters.

I just looked under my mav. Not Much metal in the area. I would take a look under there. The metal looks thin to me.Mounting Brackets I mean. and easy to bend back The ABS plastic brace may be broke. But I doubt it. I think you can do it. My 2 cents if the abs brace is broke go to Harbor freight and buy a Plastic welder. (It will look like a soldering Iron Watch a you tube vid on using it. The Tool has saved me many times.) Weld the plastic back together. You will be fine. Keep us informed
I backed into the boat trailer and put the same type of dent in my bumper. I went to the local body shop shop and they were able to pop it out with some form of heat that was made for just doing repairs such as yours and mine.
You might call the owner Jeff Doane, owner of "Paintpros" (904-449-80840) for more information. Mine was $100. and there the bumper is complete repaired but it still has the scratches(minor).

Hi, all. Anyone experienced this kind of damage? (in my case, from a parking lot hit-and-run). The bodyshop says I need a whole new bumper, but I'm thinking it could be punched out from the inside and wind up looking close to new. My 2022 Hybrid otherwise still looks brand new. Happy to receive any suggestions/feedback!

Ignorant here, are the maverick bumpers just molded plastic? (Hope not! ) Or plastic covering a metal bumper underneath...

I think it's called 'blow-moulded' plastic, maybe pioneered by Jeep. You Tube has some good posts on how to fix as well. Hope I can do it without removing the bumper, but may have to.

My reply:

Unfortunately the hair dryer wasn't hot enough in a Vancouver winter. Used a heat gun to (mostly) pop out the dent, then filled remaining irregularities with Bondo, sanded and painted with black automotive texture paint from a spray can. Result is pretty close to like new (see pic). Spent about $100 on tools and materials, but saved $500 on insurance deductible, so overall it was worth it. Thanks to all for the feedback. Hope this might help some of you if you get a similar dent.
