I like how it looks, but I'm in the "more light is better" camp. I'm sure it will be fine like that under normal circumstances. 😬

Yeah. Agreed but it just looks so sick. I’ve been running it like this since taking delivery and I’ve yet to run into any issues. Have not been pulled over nor honked by anyone.

I can confirm that this WORKS with LED bulbs on my Maverick! I just tested it out with electrical tape and a cheap set of red LED bulbs. Perfect! **Test them before bolting back the housing back on, as you may have to rotate the bulb 180 degrees to get it to work correctly.
So weird, I did this with mine, worked fine with the stock bulbs, ordered these cheapies from Amazon. Soon as they're plugged in, it shuts off the outer rope led. Soon as I put back the normal goes back on. I don't get it. Only thing I do differently, I don't cut or tape the contacts like you guys, I just bend them flat so they don't make contact and can go back to normal. Works with all the other bulbs

That’s crazy! You said you bent… is it making contact with another terminal that causing a short??

So couple of things I'd like to add to this. So like someone said, the original YouTube vid was very confusing, ended up ruining a couple bulbs from lack of description of which contact to cut. Way I figured it out... Realized it needs to be basically a single filament bulb in the dual filament housing to achieve this look. Where could I get a single filament to try this out? 🤔 Right in front of me. Took out both reverse bulbs from both housings, need to snip I tiny nub off the side to get to fit. Boom, same thing achieved. Then I knew, could just buy any cheap single filament bulbs instead of this snipping contact craziness. Though I did find out, once I have a single filament to look at, then you can take a dual, like the stock bulbs in question that need to be modified, and mimick what those contacts look like, it's actually one on either side opposite of each other need to be blocked. Only instead of cutting them, which is permanently ruining them if it's wrong, or want to switch back. Or electric tape? Which I can't believe even works these are very right spaces here. Just take needle nose, or a knife and bend the contact upwards to lay flat, then could always be undone for whatever reasons. Works great!

Sure can. I’ll do that here soon. The original YT video is linked in my OP but it also was difficult to understand. It was a trial and error for me to find which contact point to eliminate.
I found the video a bit confusing. So, do the brake and turn lights normally? He talks about how the LED trim around the rears comes on with the DRLs but I don't recall that any part of the rear lighting system is part of the DRLs. I'm just not sure what he's trying to accomplish. Maybe someone here can explain it to me.

Sure. I tried uploading a video but I gave up.
so in the YouTube video, it is difficult to understand.
The purpose of this is just for cosmetic and that’s it. It Looks cool.
now, the LED halo around the bezel, is not part of the turn/brake wiring.
the brakes and turn still function after the little mod.
the only thing this little mod does, is remove the DRL in the rear brake/turn bulbs.
the LED halos are just another DRL.
I posted night pictures a few posts back.

THIS MOD JUST MAKES IT LOOK LIKE THE F150 platinum and king ranch tail lamps.
I also posted pictures a few posts back.

Thank you for your patient and informative response. I'll be sure to look back at your earlier posts.
I didn't realize the brake/turn bulbs were on during DRL if I understand you correctly. Sort of like how back in the day people would argue about how many teeth a horse had until someone finally decided to just open the horse's mouth and count. lol

The Yorkims worked perfectly. It might be the LED bulbs you used. A few years ago, I bought a cheap, off brand set of LED amber turn signal bulbs for my older Mustang that claimed to be "error free canbus" with no hyperflash. Whatever chip they put in there caused my hazard flashers to blink whenever I turned on a turn signal... it was really weird. I returned them for a refund, got a different brand, and solved the hyperflash with a new signal flasher (throwback to simpler times).

Well I tried to do this suggestion. Doesn't work. Dumb me. I have the hybrid XLT, not a lariat or Ecoboost. Didn't notice this in the thread before!

Sorry to heard but this is part of the precession of learning new mods.
