Insurance company could use this to deny coverage under the right circumstances. If they are aware. Yes that's a stretch, but if the driver that hits you says they couldn't see you, they might look into it further. Regardless, it's still a valid statement.

I do like the look, but I don't like the idea of removing lighting, leaving me with less than half of my factory lighting area on a major highway during a severe downpour. I used to have GTS headlight and tail light covers back in the 90's when I was in college and they caused obvious loss in illumination. Now there is vinyl and spray smoke. In my old age (ha!) I've chosen not to do those mods, as they cross the line for me, personally, a little bit too much. But, that line between fashion and functionality runs differently for everyone.

I did not know that these bults are hard to get?! Is that still true? Ive never heard of there being a shortage of basic taillight bulbs lol
I Google at all the part stores around me… even Walmart, they did not have them in stock. I could have gone to Ford but didn’t feel like spending on bulbs when I knew eventually I’d upgrade to LEDS. yes, I could have ordered from online. I only panicked because I didn’t want to get pulled over for one bulb not working. Lol

I’m not disagreeing with you… but looking through the forum.. there’s a page where several Mavericks are being rear ended regardless of this or not. This also could be said with lifts malfunctioning and cause an accident. If it’s a failure in the part, it could also be liable. Other manufacturers have their versions of this similar look (i posted pics a few posts back) So, everyone here is correct.

I'm wondering if it's possible to dim the normal tail light instead of having it completely off. I really like the look of the outline tail light, but it seems like way too little of light when viewing it from directly behind.

There’s no way to dim the light. Only thing I can think of is tint the tail lamp but not the halo. I will take a night picture of the rear view tonight and post it. But I have not had any issues with visibility since I’ve done this mod.

A night picture from behind would be super helpful!

Can someone confirm the xlt bap light has the led halo? I’m fairly certain the lariat is the only one with the halo in it. Same with the headlight housing for drl

Yeah the lasfits are expensive so I will definitely mess with the incandescent bulbs first, and then try electrical tape with the Lasfits. I will post my results here :)
I can confirm that this WORKS with LED bulbs on my Maverick! I just tested it out with electrical tape and a cheap set of red LED bulbs. Perfect! **Test them before bolting back the housing back on, as you may have to rotate the bulb 180 degrees to get it to work correctly.

I used 3157s, so I had to shave off the side tabs with a dremel tool. Either of these look good:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01A77UGCM

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZD3T38W/

No resistors on either of those though, so you will get a hyperflash warning unless you go into ForScan and disable Lamp Outage Detection in the BCM. Strangely enough, if you don't install resistors or disable outage detection, you will get the hyperflash on the dashboard, but the actual tail lights and front signals do not hyperflash.

I suppose if you don't want to deal with ForScan and/or don't want to dremel off the side tabs on 3157s, you could go the more expensive route and get LasFit or other LED bulbs with resistors built in. LasFit has a WT21-7W plug-and-play bulb with resistors (https://www.amazon.com/LASFIT-4257NA-Resistor-Maverick-Accessories/dp/B0C8NFCDJF/), but 4 of them will run you $120. I bought both of the above options to see which I liked better and still only paid less than half that. I did your "DRL delete" mod on the Yorkim bulbs, but left the Sylvania bulbs alone and held onto them in case I want to switch back to "normal function" later.
