Why not just t-tap the light bar right into the trailer connector right before the plug, then it should use the power without the truck thinking it's plugged in, no?
Like this you mean? There should be no prying done to your interior whatsoever, that plastic gets easily scratched. The EL wire just pushes into the crevices
So couple of things I'd like to add to this. So like someone said, the original YouTube vid was very confusing, ended up ruining a couple bulbs from lack of description of which contact to cut. Way I figured it out... Realized it needs to be basically a single filament bulb in the dual filament...
So weird, I did this with mine, worked fine with the stock bulbs, ordered these cheapies from Amazon. Soon as they're plugged in, it shuts off the outer rope led. Soon as I put back the normal goes back on. I don't get it. Only thing I do differently, I don't cut or tape the contacts like you...
