Thoughts on Wildpeak AT3 Deal?

I live in Colorado Springs, I have Blizzaks on right now but when Summer comes around I was looking for another set of wheels. I have a '23 AWD Mav.

Someone near me is selling four Wildpeak AT3 with Bronco Sport rims for $850, they are brand new with TPMS.

What do you guys think, is that an appropriate tire for mostly road use, maybe some dirt roads occasionally? Obviously the biggest concern being the price.

Alternatively, it would probably cost me $900 for brand new trail tires with labor and $400 for used Bronco Sport rims.

Sounds like a good deal to me if you're looking for another set of tires/rims. I have the AT3's on my FX4 Mav, and they drive great on the road (made the trip from central Texas to Vegas and back and the Mav rode amazingly smooth). Although they're rated very high for snow, I have not tested that out just yet. Only a little off -road and ranch trails so far, but no problems there either. If you're in the market for a new set of tires/wheels, I don't think you can beat that price

I'd agree with Shakesbear, if you are looking for both tires/rims and with TPMS sounds reasonable.

Definitely a good deal. Those AT3s will be solid all around. They were in the running back when I was swapping things around and they only reason I didn't go with them was bc I had some options that were a little lighter. I'd pick that set up without hesitation though, you will be happy.

Don't think it's a Ford OEM design difference, but rather a design philosophy from Falken for their smaller sizes. The smaller ones have less plies/lower load rating and look less aggressive as a result. The changeover seems to be from the 235 to the 245 widths.

There is no difference between the Ford OEM 235/65-17 and the one that you can get from Discount Tire etc. There's no special Ford model.

I have the 235s on my Tremor and they are an amazing tire when set to 33psi cold. I find anything above 35psi can make the Maverick a little too bouncy for me.

I think this is true for some tires, but not all.
I remember reading the basic 225/65/17 continental have less tread than the same tire if you buy it outside.

I think I bought the same set (BS Bandlands take offs) last summer from a guy on CL. Originally wanted $1000, then $900, I offered $800 and he accepted. Bought them before I got my truck delivered. Was relieved when I installed them that they actually had TPMS sensors (really can't tell by looking at the stems), and the Maverick sensed them automatically (no learning needed). I painted my steelies black and put Blizzaks on them for winter. Sold the Continentals for $300. Happy with the Wildpeaks. Sounds like a reasonable deal. Good Luck!

of that whole story, the only surprising part is you sold your oem contis for $300. to whom, how?

I would think anyone with the non-badlands bronco (of which are a huge majority) would be interested in the badlands wheels and 235/65-17 wildpeak. weird the market is so soft on them.

Yeah getting $300 for those is impressive. I just sold a set of 255/45/20 tires with 1500 miles on them for $360 after little to no serious interest. I also practically gave away my FX4 wheels with 235/65 Toyo OCIII in great shape last year for $600 including TPMS and lugs after trying to sell them for months. OP might be able to negotiate an even better price.

Mostly it is the fact that they are a small tire compared to most popular sizes. They could have minor changes for OE, but it's mainly the size that limits what the tire can actually offer. Somewhere in my threads I posted pictures of the tread differences between a 235 and a 265 both 65 ratio tires. The larger tires had huge voids. Which I prefer for off-road. But for mileage, feel, etc. the stock 235s are where it's at.
