For the past few days, I've been installing a Wolfbox G900 dash cam (has an LCD rearview mirror) on the Maverick.
Why? A couple of reasons:
1. I haul a lot of stuff. The headrests obscured too much view. I've since removed the back seats and installed Milwaukee Packouts in that area. Sometimes the Packouts get higher than the rear window sill. The camera on the back window allows me to fill up the back of the cab with construction paraphernalia, and still have a clear rear view.
2. I'm older, with some vision problems. The camera/LCD processes the image quality so sunsets and headlights behind me are adjusted so I can still see the roadway and vehicles behind me. Night driving visibility is greatly enhanced.
In addition to purchasing the base Wolfbox G900 camera, I added the options for a hardwire kit (to the fuse box in the passenger floor well) and a mounting plate to eliminate the original mirror.
I've never installed anything like this. It was an intimidating project for me. I watched a lot of YouTube videos in preparation.
I'm very happy with the clean look. Neither the camera or rearview mirror is very noticeable to a casual observer. All wiring is concealed to the fullest extent possible.
I've only been using it a couple of days. I'll report back in a month to give an assessment of likes and dislikes.
