I have a Lariat and temp display just fine for me . IDK why some need a digital display to tell them where to set it. If hot or cold just set it to whatever feels comfortable..
I have had 2 MY22 Lariat lux and neither had the numbers on the dials. I look at the number displayed in the infotainment screen out of curiosity but I would never decide to not change it from a certain number if I was uncomfortable.

"I'm a little warm. Oh! It's already set to 70, that's cool enough, guess I won't adjust it after all."

Depending on clothes, recent physical activity, sunshine, and more, anywhere from 68-75 could be a comfortable HVAC set point for me. I think the cluster looks better without the numbers, but I'd live with it if I had them. I definitely don't see enough value to swap the knobs.

I wish it DID have the current setting displayed on the knobs. So much better in all of the vehicles I've sat in or driven.

Reviving this thread to add some important info. My ‘23 Lariat Lux (Built in July 2023) did NOT have the screw between the HVAC module and the dash panel, meaning all of the clip breaking and trim removal wasn’t needed!

Check if your truck has the screw before fussing with trim/screen removal by sticking a piece of paper between the duct as shown in photos 1 and 2. Also, make sure to properly locate the vents on reassembly - there are holes that can be misaligned (4th photo).

I removed the vents by using a junk plastic card to pry one of the upper clips off. The others will come off with a tug after that.

Be VERY careful swapping the heated mirror and recirculation buttons, they are easily scratched. They’re each held with two tabs. Practice on a different button on your truck’s original module first. I scratched the main A/C button on the new module and had to swap it over (3rd photo). Also, make sure you have the light tubes behind the buttons in place. Mine came out with my truck’s buttons.

Overall, this is very easy to do and it truly is plug and play - no Forscan needed. The little screens are FAR more responsive.

For anyone wondering, this is the module for a 2020-2021 Escape. I paid $76 shipped on Ebay.

I know what you mean about swapping the button. I installed a 2020 Ford Escape temperature control unit in my 2023 XLT FX4 Lux. Picked up the unit on ebay for $55 with free shipping. I installed it and of course the heated seats, steering wheel and mirrors didn't work, I followed the Forscan settings that UberGadgetFreak posted in another thread and it worked like charm. The thing I sweated the most was swapping the heated mirror and the recirculation button from the old unit to the new, took my time and it worked with no broken or scratched parts. One added thing I did get was a bit of chrome bling in the XLT, the new unit has a chrome strip right above the heated seats and steering wheel buttons which lights up.

Here is the thread with the settings: https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...control-swap-question-help.32256/#post-608365

Glad you got it sorted! The dual zone CC module lacks the lighting due to the fan speed lights, but that looks really slick! I also got the chrome strip though, looks better than the stock Maverick unit.

Not the point of the thread, see the second half of post 25.

Completed my climate swap today. I made it a point to grab one from an EcoBoost Escape to prevent messing with Forscan.

HUGE SHOUTOUT to @CaptBanana for the tip about checking for the dash screw by using a car dealer keyfob. This tip saved me a lot of time. Thank you good sir!

One bit of info I came up short on was the button swap. I have attached a few pics of the tabs in question below and once you know where to tabs are its not too hard to swap them. That being said, I had to give up on the truck recirculate button since it just wasn't coming off the "new" unit.

All said and done, everything works (heated seats, heated steering wheel, heated mirrors, and auto climate) with no tweaking needed. I love my digital temp gauge, as unnecessary as it might seem to some.

Can you get into detail on how you got the buttons off? A pick or small screwdriver?

Sure. I used a very small flathead screwdriver like the kind you might see in a small bit ifixit kit. Initially, I took the HVAC unit totally apart thinking this would help to remove the buttons. Wrong, it really made no difference since the buttons have to be popped off from the front. The idea is to bend the tabs just enough so that it will pop off. Easier said than done. As I said in my post, I gave up on the second button (truck shaped recirculate) for fear of damaging the unit.

Pro tip: Practice button removal on the old HVAC unit you're replacing. Practice on buttons you wont be reusing.

Thanks! I think I’ll use a small angled or hook pick.

Thanks for posting. So you were able to find a Ford Escape modular with the heated steering wheel button already installed? I have a 2023 Maverick EB Lux and would like to avoid having to use Forscan also.

Yep. Here's the link to the item I bought. Usually in these listings, they give the VIN of the vehicle it came from. Always a good idea to google the VIN just to make sure it came from the same engine that you have.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I believe I found one that will work.

Meh, when it's cold bump up the heat when it's warm crank up the air. why do you need a temp display to tell you when it's hot or cold?
Exactly. I have never understood the obsession with a temperature readout that's never accurate, anyway. If it's hot in the cab, turn the temperature cooler. If it's cold in the cab, turn the temperature warmer. Pretty simple.

No only that, at least on mine, the display tells you the current temps inside and outside. When you adjust the temp the set temp shows on the display as well.

I guess it's nice to have a continuous dedicated display but it seems superfluous to me.

Yep. I mean, I take note of it to some extent, but whatever number it is really doesn't matter.

In the summer the solar heat load is significant, even with front door window tint like I have. I might have it set as low as 70 initially but on a long drive I might take it slowly up to 75. I have dual-zone and to me there's no need to see the set point on the dials.
