My Tremor won't into neutral unless I hit the L button

My tremor will not go into neutral unless I hit the L button. Figured this out at a car wash today.......is this normal? To be clear even though the prompt says to Stay in neutral I had to hit the L button to engage. I also have an Xlt Mav front wheel drive eco boost and do not get this prompt.

It's not to "go" to neutral, it's to "stay" in N if you get out of the truck. It will stay in N without hitting L if you stay in the truck. I get the same message.

Tried it on a hill today. The truck will not roll unless I hit L. After putting in neutral

When you turn off the key the truck automatically goes into park so please don't do that in a car wash, it might end badly.

Thats a fair safety feature I suppose. Aside from a breakdown or up on jackstands scenario I dont have alot of reason to be outside of the vehicle while its in neutral though. Still it does allow it if you press L. Im sure there is a modern car somewhere that wont allow that with out hooking up a computer to it.

My '23 Tremor doesn't act like that. If I shift from drive or reverse into neutral it rolls down my driveway as I expect it to. Is yours a '24?

But what happens when you bail out? Thats OPs scenario.

So if you want to use your truck as a battering ram while you tuck and roll to go sneak around and flank the bad guy, you have to push the L button first.

If you are going to ride in the car for the carwash, you should only have to put it in Neutral. If it is one of those carwashes that you need to get out and let it "ride" through the wash without you in it, I would say you need to hit the "L"

Battering ram mode would be locking the dif in AWD and putting a brick on the throttle, bungy cord from steering wheel to brake pedal to keep 'er going kinda straight... then tuck and roll

If so, you have a malfunction of some type. A warranty claim may be in order.
