I'd like to follow through on this project, but I think I'm going to wait and do some more research on how to integrate a fog light switch from an Escape into it. I don't think the dash will have any illuminating indicators without modifications to it, but still having that setup would be nice and closer to a stock feeling.

If the next models don't come with fog lights I'm going to be shocked. This is my shocked face when it comes to FORD dropping features 😐

I'm with you, that is what I would like to do. This looks like a great kit and very OEM looking, except for the switching. I want the full OEM look and feel.

There is another thread on here where a member used, I believe, an F150 switch that fit right into the dash, added a couple wires from the BCM to the fog lights, changed a couple Forscan settings, and it works like OEM. The dash already even has the fog light indicator in it! I think it would be very do-able with this kit and truly look OEM.

Those fog lights look fantastic! Adding it to my to-do list for my Maverick. Great job on them!

This is exactly what I want to. That clean OEM look. I put a little thought about this and in the DD installation video, 10:46, instead of running that white activation lead to the headlight harness pin 3, I believe you can run that wire to one of 2 slots in the BCM. This eliminates that rocker switch and now the F150 foglight button is your input and the BCM is your switch.

What do you all think about that?

I think it may be possible to do it even cleaner. I understand the BCM acts as a relay/current protection, so as long as these don't draw more than the typical OEM fogs, I believe you could eliminate almost all of the DD wiring. Basically you would end up with the connectors to the lights (power/ground) crossing over probably from left to right side where they would meet the right side wiring and continue on to the BCM. Just thoughts, no guarantees or anything.

I remember the thread you guys are discussing, I think it was Vtec87?? Probably massacred their name...

Personally, I'll be looking into using the F-150 dash switch but to actually power the fogs I'd prefer to run from the switch to a Bosch style relay, or if that won't work, through the BCM and then through a Bosch style relay.
Even though LEDs usually draw less current than incandescent lights I'd still like the safety net of a $20 relay being the failure point rather than the BCM.

The kit comes with a (solid-state?) relay.

Ah, my mistake.
I didn't pay much attention to the contents of this kit as I've got an FX4 on order. I'll be getting the JJC brackets and a set of SS3 diode dynamics lights so it won't be the same kit as in this thread.

This is the F-150 part. They are going for cheap right now, so get it while you can. I’ll be doing this mod and I am in an email conversation with DD on how to properly incorporate it.

@Diode Dynamics the installation video does not show where you put the switch inside the truck. I think another poster asked about this too. At the risk of speaking for others I think it’s safe to say we would love to see where and how you installed the switch inside the truck.
Great question!

The switch is completely up to the user for the mounting location.

As for users who are concerned, you do not have to use our included toggle switch. You can easily upgrade the toggle to another rocker switch, push button, switch panel, or OEM-style switch of your choice.

Nice quality stuff here DD.

Question, the C1 rear hitch kit, the one that give Red & backup for us 2K hitches. Does the plug-and-play also give us a brake light in addition to taillight and backup? Thanx.
Our Reverse Light Kit and HitchMount Kit both are only offered in our C1 Sport power level.

The C1 Sport included gives a red running light and high power white reverse light.

The C1R is the option you're referring to that is a red running, red high-power brake, and high-power white reverse.

This configuration is not available/offered at this time with our C1R.

Any word on development of an FX4 version? I have the JJC brackets, but decided against installing them. I do not think I'll be happy with the final look of the lights after install.

Our team here at Diode Dynamics gathers on Friday to have a large meeting to discuss improvement and customer feedback.

I noted on 1/19 to consider offering a fog light solution for the FX4.

This isn't a confirmation that anything will come down the pipeline but it's a push for the engineering team to consider.
