Recommendations appreciated. I should take delivery of my new Maverick within 2 months. My other car obtained several stone chips from trucks on I-45. My 23 year old Tahoe has had a bug deflector on it the whole time and does not suffer from the same malady.

I am interested to hear from y’all concerning bug deflectors and film type protection.

Thanks, in advance

It could be coincidence but I had 2 windshield rock chips in 2 months before my deflector and none in the 22 months after. It protects the front edge of the hood too.

I have heard that before. I wonder what effects the deflector will have on mileage at higher speeds. I am assuming the deflector will change the air flow pattern for better or worse

I think the impact on MPG is negligible. Computer says I consistently average 44.

I have not been able to find a bug deflector with an upright angle to protect the hood and windshield from tiny gravel and bugs. SO, I bought 3M type clear vinyl off amazon. Dont remember the name but it was $10.+ for 6 inch by 120 foot roll. Would take a picture but you can't see it. Wet the film and it is really hard to see once it is applied and dries...If and when I take it off, just wet it with a bottle sprayer with soap and water and it pulls off easily. Have applied it to totally cover the front bumper plastics and edge of hood. Very easy to apply film.

Have Ceramic Coating applied but CC DOES not help much with fine gravel.

I have PPF on the whole front end of my truck and it works great. The hefty price was worth it. 22K miles and I only have one small rock chip that occurred in the first 112 miles before I had the PPF done.

Did you have it professionally installed?

Yes I did. I had the front bumper, fenders, hood, and mirrors done. They also ceramic coated my truck. It was around 3400. They used XPEL ppf.

I installed the AVS Bugflector II on my 2024. Only 1,200 miles on it, so I can't say if it's effective yet. But I had the same deflector on my Sport Trac for 9 years and never had a windshield chip.

A good coat of wax has worked well for me for all my vehicles for the past 47 years.

Sadly the Mav has very shitty paint so I don’t think you’ll get away so easily.

I am getting the metallic azure gray paint and plan to have it ceramic coated. At this point I am leaning toward the AVS product bug deflector
