I put a subwoofer in a lawn tire and it fit

I had previously built an ugly box for 2 10's that required the removal of my under seat storage on the driver's side. One of my coils burned up So I went to tractor supply and got a tire for $20

I got a 11/6/5R and cut the top out, 10" and dropped the wally world rattle machine in

I sealed the underside to the magnet with hot glue, unintentionally the coil is still vented as there's an air gap underneath as the bucket is a U shape.

It sounds okay, I just wonder what I could achieve with 2, decent woofers and fiberglass the inside.

Does anyone have any advice on how to port a "box" that's 1" wider than the woofer itself? If I knew how to tune it I might have put more effort in

Just glad to have my under seat storage back to factory... I am aware of the $230 10" boxes made for the maverick but unfortunately I bought too many options paid sticker and am car poor

Well if you Pump the tire up, it will add more air which make the box bigger in theory. So you just gotta install a valve stem on the sub

Take an old power wheels chassis, make a plexiglass table top for it and bury a sound system in it and set 4 of those up like tires for it and you would have one bumpin' coffee table!

Dude, I don't even know where to start with this. There's just so much wrong here I applaud the creativity, but 10 of these still won't sound as good as one ground shaker enclosure. I highly recommend putting a bit more research into how subwoofer enclosures work and what it takes to make a good one. This is basically the opposite of that, and nothing more than a tactile transducer

In my experience (built several systems and competed in USAC & IASCA), woofers made to perform in tiny sealed enclosures typically don't work in the same-sized enclosure that's ported. Generally, ported enclosures need to be significantly larger than their sealed counterpart.

If you want that woofer to perform better, more airspace in its enclosure will probably be what it takes. And if you don't want to give up more of your underseat storage, sounds like that might be a no-go.

I'm a huge fan of unique, fast, and cheap. Here's something you may want to try that's minimal effort and expense, easy to just try, and the improvement you hear might be worth giving up that side of the underseat storage. Consider cutting a baffle board which sits on top of the cubby and mount the woofer in that. Either silicone it to the top edge of the cubby plastic, or if you want it easily removable, you might get away with just using thin closed-cell foam weatherstrip on the botttom of the baffle board. While I don't know how much airspace your woofer wants in order to perform well, I'd guess it's probably more than the inside of that tire. Making the baffle board will give it more volume and I'd expect you'd hear a huge improvement.

If you just port the tire, I think it's going to sound like ass. But I'd be interested in hearing what it's like so let us know.

Thanks for the feedback! Im willing to get one of the ground shaker boxes that drop in when it's affordable. As you said the goal of this was fast and cheap. A redditor gave me the idea to fill the inner volume of the tire with dracon foam, I have some left over sound deadening foam that Im going to stuff in the sidewalls to see if it does anything apparently it creates a baffle and loweres the airspeed if I like it I'll leave it if not I'll take it out

I'll post an update video when I have a completed product, doubtful it's gonna be the tire forever but I'll keep messing with it and see what I can achieve!

Leftovers from highschool, I'm not willing to gut out my 99 Ranger... Which might just be a dual 10" box jigsawed to fit a 12" kicker in it and a 450W JVC amp screwed to the back... If the women don't find ya handsome...

I believe the sub is sort of ported. I think the hole on the bottom of the sub let's the sub breathe.
