I went 9k on my oil , ford pass said oil life was at 17%. I do mostly highway and I hope they used synthetic oil. Would love to know if that oil monitor is ok to go by or change your oil every 3-5k miles! I used to go 10k miles on my rav4 with synthetic oil. Not sure what hybrid rules are!
I change it every 5,000 miles.

I love how having access to the internet makes folks more knowledgeable about automotive engineering than the folks who designed and built the vehicles... As we used to say in the Army: "RTFM" (Read The %#* Manual).

Or don't... After all, changing your oil every 5000 miles won't hurt anything (except your wallet). But if 5000 is good, then 3000 must be better, right? (That's what grandpa did, after all!)

And if 3000 is better, maybe changing the oil every 1000 miles would be even better.

Or you could just change it every time you drive it. That would probably be the best for your truck. Again, except for your wallet...

Sheesh!

I bought a Tailgate Liner (I found one other website but they're out of stock @ $50 bucks only!) + Rough Country rubber bed mat, great price (Sorry Fordpass @ $160) and obviously want to protect the tailgate. It's a shorter truck, so I can see my kids jumping on and off and tossing things on and off of it.

I came from another truck with a tonneau + spray in and the spray in is pretty unforgiving when moving furniture, knees, etc. I mean it's great an all because you don't have ever worry about anything denting/scratching, but I wasn't loading crazy heavy stuff. Just Bikes/Dirt/Gear to go on trips.

The rest I think I'll do the ol' oil changes with.

Things I found instead of Fordpass Pts...

-Amazon: Tailgate assist (also listed on rough country, similar price) @ $29
-Amazon: Smart Liners for the whole cab @ $130 (Also have them on my wife's car, good quality)
-AmazonL: Kust Windshield Sunshade @ $29 (Almost ordered that Maverick one for $100)
-Amazon: Muslogy Mud Flaps with decent reviews, $46 for all 4.
-Amazon: Issyauto Fit Rear seat insert cup holder @ $30 (Yes this one is pricey, but I didn't need the rest of the package $84)

I’ve never claimed to know anything, if I did I wouldn’t have had to work for a living. I’ve just changed oil at 5,000 and never had any problems so why change. Plus it’s easy to remember change oil at 5,10,15, etc…

I just received my ford maverick hybrid xlt and was told it takes about 30 days to get the points for the purchase. I bought a lot of accessories already for my truck and heard you can use your ford pass points for oil changes, etc. too. Do you have any recommendations on what to buy with your points? I'm looking for the best bang for your buck. Not looking to buy a $50 deezee tailgate dampener that I can get on Amazon for $28. Any recommendations is appreciated. Thank you in advance

Sorry if that seemed directed at you personally... It really wasn't - just a general observation about how people get really aggressive with their opinions on internet forums.

As to "so why change" - that's simple: Your Maverick Hybrid is NOT the same as other trucks you may have owned in the past. It's a hybrid engine, which means it is not always running when the vehicle is "ON". It's also an Adkinson-cycle engine, which again is different. The Ford engineers have tested these engines out the wazoo, and a very similar (almost identical) configuration was tested in NY Taxicab usage for several million miles. All that testing and analysis led them to developing a computer algorithm to tell you when the oil needs to be changed. Shorter intervals if you use it hard, longer intervals if you use it lightly. I tend to drive with a very light foot, while still keeping up with traffic. In general, that leads to 46 mpg or better on average (some trips are WAY higher, and some ore lower). It seems logical that I might drive a LOT more than 5000 miles before the oil needed to be changed. Someone else might drive in a really dusty area, towing a trailer or hauling truckloads of mulch all the time, or just be a lead-foot who likes to surprise other drivers with how quick the Hybrid can be when you want it to... It stands to reason that their oil change interval might well be LESS than 5000 miles. The computer takes all that into account far better than you and I can.

And I get it that some people "just don't trust computers" for much of anything (good luck with that these days), and since it's their truck, it's their choice to do whatever... Heck, I had a friend back in the '70s that bought a new Cadillac Fleetwood every 12 months, and drove it about 50,000 miles a year (traveling salesman), without doing ANYTHING to it except putting in gas. A week before his new Caddy came in, he would have the oil and filter changed so it would look "OK" for the trade in. (And that's why I have never trusted used cars...)

I didn’t take it as being directed towards me. I failed to mention in my earlier posts that I have the AWD ecoboost so another reason I continued to stick with the 5,000 mile interval is to make sure those turbos stay healthy.

Yep, I looked for a Hybrid, but got a good deal on my Lariat AWD so went ahead and pulled the trigger. So far I’m averaging 33.7 mpg as I do mostly highway so I’m happy. Wife loves it as she can get into so easily and doesn’t hurt her arthritic knees and shoulders.

I've been looking at different threads about dash cams. I noticed that the Thinkware 200 is a popular one. I believe it's the one Ford offers, but you can get it at BestBuy for about $150. Does anyone have experience with dash cams? Which ones you liked and didn't like?

Also, I've gotten dash cams in the past, but I just let the power cord dangle. lol I'd like to actually get it installed professionally this time and wanted to know where you guys went to get it installed. One person suggested to just go to Best Buy and have them install it. Thank you in advance

Had them since november 2022. Have not seen anything on the ford website that I absolutely have to have. I have not bought anything with them.

Use the points for Ford services like oil changes. Any thing you want to purchase could be bought on line a lot cheaper then Ford charges. Also having Ford do the maintence on your truck, they can't question you if there's a problem.

I use factory ford filters, and synthetic oil to ford specifications, change it myself. I keep a logbook, and receipts. I keep the olde changes on a tighter schedule than ford requires. I shouldn't have any issues. EcoBoost are great long life engines if you keep the oil clean, and use nothing but synthetic oil, and don't beat the snot out of them.

The question was what to use the 42000 Ford points for. $210 worth, For you, maybe get a dozen oil filters?
