There are currently 3 new 2023 Mavericks on my dealer's lot here in Gillette, WY. Two are EB AWD XLTs (Iconic Silver and Shadow Black) which have an online listed price of MSRP +$1500. The third is a loaded Lariat Hybrid Area 51, with the MSRP listed as the online price. The Window Stickers are posted, and I know the pictures are the stock Ford photos...but these are physically here, I just drove by and saw them all. Their Window Stickers show that they were ordered as dealer stock...and the Area 51 Lariat does have both Copilot 360 AND Copilot 360 Assist.

These guys played no games with me when I bought my 2023, and I because of that, I currently have an order for a 2024 with them scheduled to be built the week of 11/27. Dustin was/is my salesperson. It says a lot about a dealership that I made my first order on 11/3/21 and the same sales manager, finance manager and salesman are still there. Thunder Basin Ford.

Just wanted to share what I saw.

A dealer here in Riverside CA has 6 or 7 2024s. Some XLTs and some Lariats. Both Gas and Hybrid. All on the lot. I assume more are coming. $7,500 mark up on all of them, lol!

I ordered with X-Plan pricing on both the 2023 and 2024. These are nice people and the 2023 was my first order with them. I was prepared to have to keep looking elsewhere, but they didn't hesitate to allow me X-Plan. I put down a $1000 deposit on the first one when asked, but now that I am a customer, they did not require any deposit on the 2024. Of course, I had to guide them through the 2022 cancel/conversion process for the 2023, because I don't think many dealers paid really close attention to the intricacies of that process. But I got my Private Offer with zero struggle.

Seeing all the hassles experienced by folks in the MTC, and my lack of experience with this new-to-me dealer, I was always ready to battle...but no fight was ever necessary.

When I picked it up in March 2023,, the salesman asked me one time if I wanted a warranty and I told them maybe later. That was it. Ten minutes signing paperwork and 10 minutes of the saleman linking up the truck with my FordPass account and I was out of there.

BradnChristine, your Gillette WY post put a chill down my spine and a tear in my eye. Growing up in the SF Bay Area, every year our family vacation took us to the western states, as my Dad was an Oklahoma native. In 1956 or 57, our 1954 Ford station wagon would shake like the dickens when my Dad took his foot off the gas. He suspected that it was the universal joint. In Gillette, we pulled into a closed gas station ON A SUNDAY MORNING. The owner lived above the station, so my Dad knocked on the door. A guy came down and my Dad explained his dilemma. The man opened up his bay door, put the car on his lift and raised it. The universal joint was so loose YOU COULD SHAKE THE DRIVE SHAFT WITH YOUR HAND. The owner called his friend who owned a parts store, who went to his store, got a new universal joint and brought it to the gas station guy, who replaced the joint and sent us on our way. THIS WAS ON A SUNDAY MORNING!!! If there are only two people in Heaven, it is those two guys from Gillette, Wyoming.

I'm not sure that Gillette is as kind as it was in the 1950s, but it is still stuck decades behind the world in general in the level of kindness that you find here...and the way kids safely play outside in the street until dark. It is a lot like it used to be i the 60s in Oregon where I grew up. We just found this place and moved here less than 3 years ago. I'm really happy that we have a great Ford dealer here. It is definitely culture shock from Sacramento where I worked until retiring and Lake Havasu where I spent the first 20 years of my retirement. Town is only around 34,000 people, but we even have a Harbor Freight!

Yes, you know that you have arrived when you have a "Horrible Fright" in town I used to judge a city by whether or not it had a Sears. Now, that is no longer viable. So, I judge a town by whether or not it has a Sonic drive-in. Growing up in California (thru the 10th grade in 1958), I had my expected California conceit, but my favorite states travelling were Colorado, Wyoming and Utah. They will always stay with me, and I am now 80.

75 here. We do also have a Sonic in Gillette...and a Menards, a Home Depot, a Tractor Supply, a Hobby Lobby, a Joanns, and even a Super Walmart if you can't find anything somewhere else like at Albertsons or Smiths (Kroger).
After 20 years, I got tired of the AZ heat. We were planning on finding a house in SD, but wanted to eliminate the possibility of Gillette first (Rapid City, SD is the closest "big" city). Previously, I had only stopped to fill the motorhome at the Gillette Flying J when passing through. We were here all of 2 hours before we knew this was going to be our permanent home. Negative 25 degrees isn't as awful as you'd think from inside a 70 degree house, and outside it never, ever gets up to 126 degrees.

Nothing wrong with harbor freight.
Car detailing supplys and cheap stuff you might only use a couple times. In and out faster than big box stores. I've got plenty from there. Bought a submersible pump from one almost 10 years ago. Still works. Fish sticks for wiring, screw drivers, allen sets. Don't get the hate.

I don't think it's hate...just a nickname. My Harbor Freight toolboxes and rolling carts are great. Some tools are good, some are not. I'd advise never trusting their scissor jacks, though...

I have been seriously looking for one the last couple of weeks, with a 250 mile radius... the least I have found is $2500 mark up, with some higher and some still trying to cling on to 10K mark ups. One dealer had a mix of 23's and 24's. They keep contacting me about them and I tell them what I want to pay and they say they can't do that. Anyway the sales guy texted me yesterday and was like 'we still have several... people are not happy about the mark up anymore and either leave or some have bought an escape'

Picked mine up from a dealer 100 miles away last week. Just drove past my local dealer today and he's got seven new ones sitting out front. Checked and not a single one with the 4K tow package.

Please don't judge us like that up here. There is no Sonic in the whole state. :ROFLMAO:

I concur about HF. When I retired and moved to Allen, TX, and bought a Triumph TR3B, I spent about $1,000 there. Their tools might not be satisfactory for a professional mechanic, but they more than satisfied my needs, particularly their electrical stuff. God bless Horrible Fright. I think that, at one time, I must have had 35 of those little 3-AAA flashlights of theirs.

I think I have at least one of their little often-free little red voltmeter/ohmmeters in nearly every room of the house. They may not be 100% accurate, but when checking for open circuits, closed circuits or "somewhere around 12 volts", they do a fine job.

This thread made me rethink something I'd assumed to be true. I always look at online postings and assume if there are computer generated photos, the car is not on the dealer lot. So obviously that was a bad assumption on my part.
