I don't remember if I shared this before. My dad's first car over 50 years ago was a Maverick. He totaled that car in his exuberant youth, and held on to the grille badge to tell the story ever since.

He gifted me the badge for my maverick, with the instructions to be more careful with mine...

Today I got it installed; a mod decades in the making.

The badge looks awesome, the truck looks great, and the story behind it, is icing on the cake!

Yes, Id also like to know. I just priced a set of two.
It is installed with the original mounting hardware and method. Thankfully, my dad actually kept the entire chunk of the grille that the badge was attached to, so I had the full assembly. The badge is very simple; it has two coarse-threaded posts coming off the back side and a metal backer plate and two nuts that just sandwiches the grille between the plate and badge to hold it in place. That's how it was from the factory and luckily it happens to fit pretty well in the spacing of the xlt grille to sit flush and even on two of the high spots. Normally I need to get creative with this kind of project but the universe threw me a bone on this one and its "plug and play" so to speak

And, thankfully, I have some looong and spidery fingers that I could reach through the grille to work from the back side, so I didn't need to take anything apart to do it. I fished the backer plate and the nuts through the space above the badge and got them finger-tight to keep them in place. Then I got the tiniest crescent wrench I have and fished it through as well to tighten them the rest of the way, again from the inside. My knuckles are killing me, but it was worth it to not need to take the whole front of the truck apart to get to the back of the grille just for this little job.

I will take some close-ups later to hopefully illustrate what I'm talking about.

Nice blast from the past! Funny story for you here...my Mom's friend Theresa needed her Maverick sedan painted (blue ironically) back in the early 80s. Mom hooked her up with my Uncle Raymond and he said he'd do it for $100. He did...but painted it with a paintbrush! Theresa was fit to be tied but the damage was done! Lmao

My Mustang 2+2 had a Maverick gas tank put in. Grew up in the country with 6 brothers and an old barn that was a work shop. Always had cars galore around the place and it wasn’t uncommon for the guys to come home and drop an engine to work on it and have the car running the next day. And they weren’t beyond borrowing, including the engine, from my car while I was stationed overseas. Told them I’d better have a put back together car when I got home and that is how I ended up with the gas tank.

My first car was also a Maverick (Black & Silver 1976 Maverick Stallion). I currently own another '76 Maverick (that one is yellow) and I now own a 2023 Maverick pickup as well. Normally I'm not thrilled with using the "classic" Maverick logo on these new trucks, however... I love the story behind yours... and the badge actually looks nice on your grill!
