Bummer, I was hoping the AGM battery was more robust than the flooded battery they put in the Hybrids (BXT-99RT4-A). I guess I'll keep trickle charging every month or so just as insurance for not getting stranded and get a 3rd party battery later. Unless it is just a bad batch of parts like the CV axles.

Tell me you don't know how a charging system works without telling me you don't know how a charging system works.

15 volts is pretty common for modern controlled alternators. They charge hard and fast to recoup the starting energy used and then drop down to minimum to reduce the parasitic load on the engine for better economy. It's why there's the current sensor on the battery ground cable.
If 15 volts is normal now that's fine. To say I don't know haw a charging system works is a laugh and a half. I have built and wired the entire charging system of at least 5 Jeeps, 5 Fords, a couple Chevys, etc. Setup a couple dual battery systems, and solar supplemented 120AC systems. I just haven't done much on modern vehicles.

I still say 15v is high and so does a quick search of the internet. Stay tuned I'm sure we will find out next week.

I regularly see 15.1 to 15.4 on my flooded battery in my hybrid though it drops to 14.8 in a short time and remains above 14.7 most of time. This is measured at the dash power point which is an open circuit reading so it's powering things at the same time, It is unknown what the actual voltage being presented through the BMS to the battery is! If you sit in hybrid with accessory on, turn everything off and wait thirty seconds or more the Power point will show 0.2-0.3 additional volts but the computer and ?? Will still be active and 12.4v in accessory is the most I have seen usually 12.2-12.3. I suspect even if taking readings at battery positive it will still be an open circuit reading and will be degraded some even there since something will be active.

Forscan shows 14.6-14.7v regularly for my EcoBoost. Amps fall off quickly at about 65% of capacity. Might have to go to the dealer again...maybe the third time is the charm for a working battery where my auto start stop doesn't stop functioning.

Hi, OP here, again.

Just wanted to thank everyone who posted. It helped me out and I learned a lot.

Turns out it was a bad battery. Kudos to Uptown Ford in Oakland, CA for getting it fixed today. I brought it in about noon and picked it up around 4pm, no charge.

I took a quick road trip to Goose Lake SP, in Oregon , just over the CA/OR line, to see the annular eclipse. Four and half minutes of totality. 🌞 Pretty great. Looking forward to more Tremor trips next year.

✌

I have the same problem- start/stop has only worked a few days since I got the truck. Dealer says it is because I don't put a lot of miles on the truck but when I do drive it the battery should be fully charged and the feature still does not work.

Today they charged the battery and reset the BMS- will see if that works. I suspect I got a bad battery.
