Hi all. I bought a used 2023 Hybrid XLT in November with 5k on it. Great truck and am pleased with it, although I got in last Tuesday morning and the truck wouldn’t start. It was a cold morning so the gas engine started for about 2 seconds and then stallled. The engine light and red triangle warning light came on. Electric still worked and I was able to turn it around in the driveway and have it towed to my dealer. Anyone heard of this? Bummed but luckily I’m away on vacation for the next week so don’t need it. Thanks!

That’s why the first guy sold it. Hopefully dealer can fix but after many times to dealer for my Maverick I am in the market to unload my problems on someone else and try to recoup my losses. Good luck

I have a 22 hybrid Lariat and I noticed my interior lights don't come on when I open my front door. And then passenger door can't be opened my hand. Ford Pass says my truck is hibernating but it's not(yet) but it says the battery is low. I had the Battery Monitoring System reset and it worked fine, for two days. Now it's back to the same old crap. I'm told I need to drive it more, only 6000 miles in fifteen months. Today I put a trickle charger on it and I have a battery monitor coming. You would think with all of the electronics on it you would be able to watch the 12 volt battery and even the big one.
I hear a lot of people have battery problems, even Ford people. Make sure you turn off everything before you turn the truck off, radio, heater, all the defrosters, everything that you can think of. It's obvious something is draining the 12 volt. You would think they would be able to find it by now!

There is no understanding how the deep sleep process works!

My 2023 Lariat can sit for 10 days at times and not go into Deep Sleep (Fordpass warning, no interior lights, passenger door touch doesn't unlock), but then I can go on a 30 mile trip and it goes into Deep Sleep 30 minutes later.

But it has NEVER failed to start immediately. Ford needs to produce a paper on how deep sleep actually works. Some folks seem to get their dealers to give them a new battery every few months. Yet I've only driven it 2855 miles in 10 months and my original battery works just fine. No resets, no charging needed. But I still carry a jump box, just in case.

Irritates the hell out of me seeing such diverse behaviors and not being able to fully understand WTH the truck is doing. My 2020 Transit (an RV) goes into Deep Sleep every 14 days, reminding me to stert it...or if the battery goes low. Easier to understand than the random Maverick behaviors.

Can you send over a message with your VIN and the name/location of the Ford dealer you are working with? I would like to take a closer look at your engine concerns!

Hello! I was contacted by the dealer and they said that there was a download that didn't complete a few weeks ago which caused the issue. They said they fixed it and all is well now. I pick up the truck tomorrow. Any follow up on your end? Please advise and thanks!

UDPATE: Hi all. A new twist on my Maverick issue. The dealer had called last week to tell me the problem was solved and it's ready to pick up. Yesterday (Sunday), i went to the dealer to clean the car off so i could pick it up the next day. I was also curious to see if the truck would start. I parked and walked onto the lot, and remotely started the truck with FordConnect. It made clicking noises and did show it started, but the gas engine didn't start up. It was -5 below yesterday where i live so i was expecting the gas engine to start up right away but it didn't. When i got in the Service Engine Soon light was on as well at the red triangle with exclamation point. I got a message on FordConnect to "Service Engine Soon". WTF! It did shift into Drive and rolled under electric power but still, why would the warning lights be on if it was fixed. I just called them this morning and shared with them what i did. The guy said he would connect with the service manager who helped me to see what the story is and call me back. Update you shortly.

Hey! I'm back and the problem was solved. It took 20 days to fix but it's back in the driveway and running fine. It took them multiple tries swapping out different parts but it was the clutch sensor, the sensor that tells when to switch from hybrid to ICE, or so,ething like that. Replace dfree of charge of course and they paid for my rental. Ford customer care rep was great too. From what I can tell this was the first time they had something like this. I've driven it for more than a week to and from work in Chicago and it works like a charm. 40 mpg back and forth on surface streets. Woo hoo!

Thanks for sharing! I'm sure someone else will eventually have the issue as well.

Not positive you got the correct description. What does your "paperwork" say?

One hypothesis is:
Crankcase position sensor and Camshaft position sensor mis-match resulting in immediate engine shutdown to prevent damage.
🤷🏻‍♂️

Seems like an ext warranty is in my future but still trying to figure out which level and deductible. Thinkin' Premium 8/125.

Definitely PremiumCare. When I purchased for the 2023, the $50 deductible was LESS than $50 more than the $100 deductible (I think it was $30 more). Thus one use would pay for getting the lower deductible, and we ARE buying the warranty with an expectation that we will use it at least once.
Time (owned) and mileage driven are really hard to guess. Who knows what you might see to replace it with in 8 years. I bought 8 yrs on my 2017 C-Max and it is paying off as I sell it. Offering a used car with 2 more years of Premiumcare and 23,000 miles left is getting me at least $1000 more for the car (and a reassured buyer), and it cost me $925 or $905 when I bought it in 2018. Never used, BTW, as Ford Hybrids are super.

When ypu first had these problems, did your engine make a diesel-like sound? Like on my vid:

That is what most of us get. Beyond that is is too expensive and if I think if most people have to use it for anything major in that time frame it leaves plenty left to get rid of it after the fact.
