Replaced my windshield 3.5 times already. Bad luck or Bad Design/Engineering?

Have had to replace my windshield 3.5 times in not even two years since owning, from rocks smashing into glass. One of the times required me to have the pillar repainted. The .5 time was having to stop a crack from spreading from a rock that worked, but the crack remained, until another rock hit the glass.

This last time really pissed me off, as saw the hit happen, and the crack spread across the glass, There was a medium size truck in front of me, but not for at least 45 yards.

The way i see it:
1 time bad luck
2 time bad luck/coincidence
3 times starting to think theres some design aerodynamic issues going on
3.5. Enough is enough.

I've only ever had issues with rocks while tailgating. No issues yet with the Maverick.

I try to stay a nice distance from other vehicles when possibl. But still caught two rocks, no cracks yet …… just chips

I know two times no vehicles within 30 to 40 yards in front, not sure about the other 2

I should play the lotto. I've had one repair in all my years of driving, fixed myself via Auto Zone kit.
I did take a mean one to my face shield on my road bike.

Going in for my second, pain in the butt. On both of mine these are rocks that would have hit the hood or grill on my old F150...

Wife's '22 Highlander is a good example of bad design ‐- rock took out AC condenser, grill openings are huge with no screening etc. Apparently this is a frequent issue with that model...

Went thru the same thing with the Mini-Cooper. It's windshield is very UPRIGHT like the Maverick. Mini-Cooper, made by BMW, was getting bombarded with complaints about broken windshields, but it was concluded that the upright windshields is prone to broken windshields. Just finished a 7,000 trip in the Maverick with at least 1,000 miles on dirt roads and was clobbered 4 times with rocks, no damage....

I too keep clear of dump trucks and trailers hauling equipment like bulldozers, etc...

Curious if you are using any type of hood deflector? I have heard these windshields seem to be more fragile than most.

I've been driving a year and a half now, 17,000 miles at least 95% highway driving on the 95 corridor between DC and NJ at about 70mph speeds and not a single issue with the windshield. I am really wondering if people are following traffic super close putting their fairly steep raked windshield at a higher risk for stone damage.

Had a Ranger that was prone to windshield replacement. 4 with me, one for my son. I hope the Mav is not a rock magnet

I am glad I got the warranty from dealer that covers windshields and dings it sound like! What has the average cost been to replace a Maverick windshield?

I'm not a tailgater. Two second gap most of the time and feel nervous with a one second gap (which is 10 times the gap most people use). Two seconds at 70MPH is about 70yds (204ft).

I did take a good hit this morning at about 70 but didn't see it and can't find any obvious damage. Tailgate or not some rocks come from another lane.

I'm typically unlucky with windshields in that 100% of the time I will take a hit and get a chip within 2 weeks of getting a new windshield so I get to look at it for a few years.

Don't get anywhere near a dump truck. Don't tailgate. 41 years of driving with zero replacements.

We have a lot of debris on our roads here. A lot of horrible people that lift their pavement princess, wheels outside the fenders, but of course, no mud flaps or fender flairs.

I have replaced 2 windshields in my entire life.

What is happening down there in Texas?
