22 XLT, only 7000 miles. Needed a state inspection so I figured to change the oil as well since it was in there. Had to run and just looked at receipt. Receipt says they put in 5W30 but hybrid should have 0W20. I have a call into service manager and am waiting a call back. Service advisor said I got the right oil but the computer just spits out 5W30 as a default. Not falling for that. Thanks for letting me vent.

Annoying, but luckily not the end of the world. I assume they will do right and drain/refill for you before Winter weather really hits and the viscosity really matters.

Not yet. They are insisting I have 0W20 in there but the receipt is wrong. Still waiting for service manager.

Ask them if they would rather drain and refill, or pay for a sample to be sent to BlackStone for analysis and viscosity confirmation.

That needs to be changed. At the very least on the invoice as long as it is 0w20. For warranty it must be 0w20. I hope they do the right thing and do a drain and fill with the correct oil.

Its not really a major issue. Just change it after 3000 miles and do not have dealerships do anymore oil changes for you.

A little while back someone went off in an oil change thread saying its dumb to do your own fluid work to save $30-40.

For many its less about the $$$ and more about making sure its done right. Too much work done on vehicles is sight unseen without much way to review after. I've had a few mechanics in my life that I really trust. I've had way too many shops where you don't know who is gonna work on it.

I really dislike working on cars, but I do fluids, brakes, and any random smaller fixes that I can myself. It's been worth the piece of mind the past 10 years or so.

My husband has always done his own oil changes on every vehicle we have ever had.

Nevermind that any time I go to the dealer for a simple oil change I've waited at least an hour, not including the time spent driving there and back. I can do it myself and know it's done right in 15 minutes.

FYI Harbor Freight has ramps on sale this week. Just picked up a pair yesterday, which means no more jacking and it'll take me even less time.

It will if the engine fails, and the owner has to make a warranty claim. Ford will want an oil sample to make sure the engine had oil in the recommended range in it. If it doesn't, they will say no coverage, because if you think Ford won't go to all lengths to avoid paying for it, you are fooling yourself. Of course if the owner has proof the dealership messed up, they can go after the dealer in court, but that's a money losing battle right there, it would cost more than the new engine.

It is stated in user manual that not using the recommend oil will void the warranty BTW.

My last trip to the dealer they put in 7 quarts instead of 5.7 quarts.

I think I should take some out but not exactly sure how to do it.

The oil level is above the first twist on the dipstick.
