Hello. New to the forum. I have a 2024 maverick xl 2.0l. I've had it about 1 month. I performed my first oil change at 780 miles to remove the oil just in case it has any metal material from the break in process. Upon removing the ford oil I noticed it had a green tint to the oil. Is this some sort of break in oil ford uses? I replaced with pennzoil platinum 5w30. I will repeat this process in another 750 miles then I'll change every 4000 miles. I included some pics of the ford oil in the shade and in the sun. Thanks

It isn't any sort of special oil. Many of us have had it analyzed by Blackstone and Blackstone never says anything special about it other than the expected elevated levels of silicon and other wear metals from the assembly process that are being flushed out with initial use. The viscosity and other core characteristics are in line with any average oil off the shelf from the auto store.

Here is my Blackstone from my EB. This is after I drove it about 1,700 miles home from the dealership over about 3 days and then added about 900 more miles of short drives around my town over about 2 months. Copper and Silicon from the seals and lubes from assembly.

I think the green is a UV dye added to the oil to check for leaks.
The uv dye is for the AC system. I don't think you need a uv dye to see a oil leak....atleast I don't need it. You usually can see a oil leak with the naked eye. I could be wrong though. Car manufacturers have done weird stuff in the past. Lol

It's just mixed with the lubrication from initial assembly. You can stretch to 4k now if you wanted. Most of us EB drivers agree 3-5k is right for these engines. I personally make my assessment after the 3rd oil analysis and also go for 3-4k which ends up being twice a year for me. If my driving was 99% highway I might opt for a bit more, possibly even around 5-7k.

Let us know how your reports go. I will be sharing mine after the 3rd one.

I think I'm gonna still change the oil in another 750 miles. That way I will get out most of the factory oil. Then I will go 4k between oil changes. The color of the oil just caught me by surprise that's all. I've owned many new cars and have worked in the car oil changing business for atleast the past 25 years. I've never seen oil that color unless the coolant was getting into it but I know that's not the case here.

Have ~1200 miles on oil since new. Pulled sample, sent to Blackstone. The report shows nothing unusual for new vehicle, break in stuff. Only alarm is viscosity is low. Wonder if

I did pull sample from wife’s Escape. Dealer changes oil, presume Motorcraft. Got good results, BUT report says, again, low viscosity. Humm…both vehicles with low viscosity? And I see another owner report by Blackstone reveals low viscidity too.

my samples from both vehicles pulled when oil cold, at ambient temperature. Wondering if that’s a factor, affects viscosity? Supposing oil have thickening agent when oil get hot, hotter?

If the oil is special break-in type, will Blackstone be able to detect?

Motul 300V (very high grade double ester stuff) motorcycle oil doesn't look like it has antifreeze in it, it looks like the antifreeze. Not quite as bright green as actual coolant, but close to..
