NOTE: I have since heard back form Granger (see their post below as well as mine below theirs)

I picked up my 2023 Maverick on Friday 9/15, purchased an extended warranty on Thursday, 9/21. The truck had 112 miles on it. Surprisingly, my truck gained a thousand miles to the same dealership I bought the warranty from and had $4830.00 worth of warranty work completed (the odometer today reads 191 miles). I did some research and found this on another forum. https://www.f150lightningforum.com/...om-ford-protect-at-50-over-cost.10265/page-14 Thoughts?

I followed the rabbit hole in the link you posted and this is what @Granger Ford posted in response to another member on the F150 Lightning forum. Sounds sus to me but I don't know the ins and outs of Fords ESP program so just thought I would share.

I tagged Granger Ford so hopefully they can see this thread and post a more clear explanation.

Yes, we have to process the transaction somehow through our dealer software system. We have 3 transactions, a service ticket, vehicle sale or parts sale. We process these as a Service ticket because Ford offers a provision to sell a service contract on the service drive and that is the closest fit to how we're selling it. Unfortunately our software and ford's Ford Pass software are having a mapping issue causing this to show up in Ford pass (but not in warranty history) as a heating/ac repair. We've reached out to them multiple times without luck to get this resolved.

hope that makes sense.

I can't help but wonder if you sold and purchased new right at the 3 year 36 bumper to bumper warranty. Would your depreciation be a lot more than $4800.00

Now you would have another new vehicle with a 3/36 warranty

I believe the computer issue story. Ford has yet to impress me on that front.

Yes. I finally got the Maverick I ordered. Traded my 2022 XL in on my 2023 XLT and received a prorated refund on the previous warranty. Took that money and bought one for my XLT. BTW, the new warranty did NOT cost $4800

The best way that I know how to explain the situation is the following;
you go to the local electronics store and buy an open box compute. You think that you have a two year warranty based on the manufacturer information. In reality the warranty started when the original owner set up the computer and filled in all of the blanks for the warranty. The orginal buyer returns the computer however you end up shorted on the warranty whatever timeframe elapsed.
The warranty work being a demo means they had some issues with the truck or one of the bazillion recalls Ford has that must be documented.

TomD — I don’t understand your analogy here. I ordered my truck in a state other than Iowa. It still has less than 200 miles on it. Only the warranty came from the dealer in Iowa. My truck had never been serviced in Iowa, yet the my pass app shows warranty work in the amount of $4800 was done in Iowa. People on other blogs have had the same exact experience only with different dollar amounts. Something isn’t right.

Yes, we've had this issue consistently without a solution yet. This does NOT show on your service history through Ford's OASIS system but is showing on Ford pass incorrectly.

We have to register the purchase somewhere in our dealership software we have 3 transactions available.

1. Vehicle sale
2 parts sale
3 repair order

Ford provides an option to 'sell a service contract on the service drive ' as a labor operation in service. That's how we process the transaction, but it isn't napping correctly in the Ford pass app and doubles the purchase amount and shows it as an A/C-heating repair.

We've had conversations with people in Ford's IT department without any solutions yet.

That actually makes Ford sense. As long as it doesn’t show up as a warranty repair. Thanks for explaining.
