My XL Ecoboost (AWD, 4K towing, Co-Pilot 360, ordered 10/22, rolled 7/23) is scheduled for production week of 16 October. If parts are available & she's built, she would travel by train to Houston, buy truck to Tomball Ford (Houston). Haven't found more than speculation (both + & -) as to whether or not a train will haul her to Houston. We do know Teamsters will not cross the proverbial picket line. How would she get from train hub to dealership? Why put her on a train to Houston if there's not gonna be a truck there to meet her? ...om... 😵💫 ...om... ... ...
See if they'll let you go down and get it from Mexico yourself. Save on destination fees.🙄. Just kidding

Damn straight! They are paying well and making billions, they can pay better and still make billions, and I want a good build on my truck! It is a present to myself for turning 60 (without someone running me over with a dump truck) and being a 25 year cancer survivor. I can wait a little longer. If it goes into 2025 I have an awesome dealer that specializes in fleets and industrial trucks and they will help me through any further process.
i think the potential impact to MX production is the ability for them to get parts. although most parts suppliers are not UAW they may have the ability to influence others and a cascade effect is entirely possible. The constraint reports will be interesting to watch if this continues for any length of time.

NO, the cost can be absorbed by the Auto MFG's. Billions of dollars were made last year, NET.
For example Ford could cut their advertising budget of 1.5B dollars US only.

If, like a majority of families, UAW workers are living paycheck-to-paycheck, the strike could get painful for the strikers pretty quick.
Thank you. Corporations, not just auto, are raking record profits while American workers are just getting by.
At the same time Ford's CEO is getting regular massive raises while his management failures have cost Ford millions, halved it's stock price and led to a 30% car price increase over the past 4 years.

I guess the customer's hands are pretty much tied at this point. Plus, I've invested enough in aftermarket accessories that I'm waiting for my truck, come hell or high water!

I just hope it doesn't turn into a game of chicken, marathon strike. Our economy doesn't need it right now, and I can guarantee I'm struggling along at least as much as the next guy. That's one of the reasons I'm purchasing a Maverick, and hoping it'll hold up long enough to be my last truck purchase, ever. Time will tell...

As long as people are willing to pay the higher price, and people are willing to work for the lower price, the price will always be passed down. It is the simple concept of supply and demand. Demand for car/truck is higher than supply, price will go up until the equilibrium point (for those of you that have not been in high school Economics for a while, that is where the number supplied is equal to the number demanded). The same works with labor. When labor is in short supply, it is expensive. When jobs are in short supply, labor is cheaper because people are willing to accept jobs for lower pay (Think Great Depression).
Right now, workers are saying that they are no longer willing to work for the amount being offered and the manufacturers need to pay more. Now, as long as people are willing to pay more for the items being produced (cars and trucks) then the manufacturers will pass that on to consumers. Until the consumers are no longer willing to pay more, prices will continue to rise and the CEOs will continue to line their pockets.
Unfortunately, the consumer has shown that they are willing to pay the higher prices but snatching up every maverick on the lot, even with $10,000 markups on the vehicles. Ford sees this, and takes the opportunity to raise the prices when they are paying their labor force more. This also maintains their profit margins and therefore looks good to investors.
Now, the reason that people are willing to pay is another soap box but also has to do with elastic and in elastic demand, so tune in next week for RichardCranium explains Economics.

The other issue is suppliers. They may close if they are part of the UAW, or in support of the UAW, or due to lack of demand if no plants are open. I'm sure there are a few parts in a Mav made in the USA and assembled in Mexico.
I work for a supplier and most suppliers likely will shutdown but not because they are union, but because ford doesn't order parts if they aren't building. This day and age everything is "just in time" meaning they only order for the forecast of the next 120 days. The catch is, as soon as they stop building they will drop orders and we will get laid off. Only positive is being non union we are laid off and qualify for unemployment for what it's worth.

Thanks. Will suppliers keep on enough people to supply the Hermosillo plant? I hope you don't get laid off!

Record profit, losing millions, falling stock price. All at the same time?

Remember, no investors=no company. No return on investment =no investors. Part of management's job is to provide a return for investors with reasonable degree on safety. Not saying the companies are 100% pure. And if the company is not run well, the stock holders can remove them. Although there is a lot of cronyism between large investment houses and top corporate officers. Remember when Iaccoca took over Chrysler. He told the employees he had so many jobs at on hourly rate and 0 jobs at the rate they wanted. The union voted for his rate. There is always two sides. I'm not taking any side, just pointing out the other side.

I understand how this thread can so easily spin off into discussions about the strike itself, the balances between the interests of corporations, shareholders, and unions. And whatnot. But I'm watching the thread because I want to know how the UAW Strike may affect my Maverick order. 🙏🏻

Thanks to Joe, he already socked it to manufacturers when he got into office, as he said don’t pass it on to consumers🤢, well here we go again, you got a guy making 400thos a yr and dropped to 300 a yr, that’s not lasting long, consumer eats it, So many never been in business to know what it takes, I remember just punching clock 50 yr ago, there’s more responsibility, you have to cover overhead for you to collect a pay check, car manufacturers have come and gone. Things are messed up, just found one at dealer and bought, could be another year
