Like I said in other posts, they are an inferior tire in the Continental tire line up. Continental does make great tires (just not these) There is another post on MTC forum stating that the factory tires only have 8/32 of tread, where retail tires have 11/32 of tread.
I made the analogy of: When you buy a new printer, it comes with a "Starter cartridge" only designed to print 100-150 pages. Then you have to purchase a Real Cartridge capable of printing 1000+ pages.
I took my stock tires & wheels off at 36 miles and replaced them with real tires.

That's good to know that OEM tires only have 8/32" tread. In snow country, it's recommended to replace tires at 5/32". The typical 2/32" wear marks are fine if only driven on dry pavement. I like to get 12/32 or 13/32" for a new tire.

For what it's worth, I've got 11000 miles on mine, and though I haven't measured, they still look about the same as new. I expect they'll do about 30k in the end, and that's decent for factory tires.

Not certain (means not confirmed nor denied in my mind) about the "starter tire" analogy, but if the tires are worn, they are worn, and this is a great opportunity to replace them with something better.

I've been driving Ford Flex, many of them, since they were introduced. In one incarnation, they put on these crappy Hankook Optimo tires which I felt handled poorly. Not that I'm driving like Mario Andretti in a Ford Flex, but they just didn't feel right. So, after about a year of grumbling I took advantage of a Costco sale, got a set of Michelins and wow what a difference. Sold the Hankooks for $175 the set.

So, view this as an opportunity to get a better and safer tire! (tires with little tread remaining not so safe...)
that is what I am looking to do. my spouse has a Honda Ridgline with 20K on her firestones and they look just broke in . leaning towards them.

the tires on my wife's ridge line have 20K since she bought it new and they look like they will do 50 with no issues.

Our last 2 new vehicles were Escapes, 2015 and 2018 respectively, with Michelin tires from the factory, one set was worn out at 20K, the other I milked to 30K, but they were obviously not the quality of Michelin we would buy at a tire retailer.. I replaced both sets with Continentals( ProContact DWS on 1 and ProContact LX25 on the other) and have had great satisfaction with them, it's not the brand but more so the "spec" or the vehicle manufacturers budget that dictates oe tire life. Just like a line from one of my favorite movies " Armageddon" where actor Steve Buscemi said, "You know we're sitting on four million pounds of fuel, one nuclear weapon, and a thing that has 270,000 moving parts built by the lowest bidder. " That is basically how the tires were picked for the Maverick, by who had the lowest bid. NOTE: They put Michelins on the Lariat packaged Mavericks, but for most people they will probably not see 40-50000 miles out of them like they would a retail Michelin.

I live in Texas where we have temperatures in excess of 100 degrees for 3 to 4 months a year. Black asphalt temperature is 125 to 135 degrees, so it cooks the rubber. I have to change tires every 2 to 3 years because they are weather cracked. Sometimes they have 50 percent tread life left. There are a lot of reasons to buy new tires, not counting the people that leave the dealer and go to tire store and spend thousands on new tires and wheels.

I’ve got 23.5k on my Continentals and I’m thinking I can get close to 30k out of them (or at least through the holidays). They’re fine, but I’m definitely going to get something different. Leaning towards a set of Goodyear wranglers (for the truckier look), although if I was being totally pragmatic, I’d get a set of BF Goodrich Advantage Controls from Sam’s Club.

I want a "truckier" look with my next set of tires on my Maverick, but I'm going to achieve that with raised white letter tires. I've always associated white letter tires with trucks. Hopefully I can find a good all season tire with white letters, since I have the hybrid and want to maintain my high miles per gallon.

I have 40,400 miles on my hybrid XLT.....here are my tires, front and rear. I rotate my tires at every oil change, which IS 10,000 miles...YES, 10k as suggested by ford. Why waste money before...synthetic oil. No complaints on the tires from me. I run 34 pounds. I don't know what you guys are doing to your tires...and I work my truck some, hauling enclosed trailer, motorcycles, stuff in bed. Bob

I put my new tires & Wheels on today. Just for chits & giggles, I measured the factory Continentals (8/32 of tread) only 54 miles on them. 2nd photo is New Michelin Defender LTX M/S (13/32 of tread) zero miles on them.
Also, swapped out factory wheels & tires with 18" Mach-E (added some bling) and 235/60/18 Defender tires. Came out well, I think 🤟

7300 miles and mine still look like new. I'm satisfied with mine overall, but I do plan to buy a set of dedicated winter tires, because they aren't great for Maine winters lol. Got my maverick late February, I was too cheap to buy a set of snows that late in the winter 🤣

just turned 24K on mine and noticed today that on the drivers side front the outside and the passenger inside tread was wearing off but the rest of the tire was good. I don't drive any roads with pot holes or roughness so I am taking it in the morning to get an alignment check. I was hoping for 30K+. Wonder what is going on they would wear that way at only 24K

I'm at 18000 miles and my tires are fine. Rotated every 5000 miles with my oil changed.
Thanks, Poppy, and all you guys. I will surely keep an eye on my OEM Continentals. Like Poppy, I rotate my tires annually when I change my oil. THIS IS IN THE VICINITY OF EVERY 2,500 MILES! I change oil every January. My first oil change was at 2,400 miles (8 months), when I went in for my 2nd recall (airbags). So, at the rate of miles I drive, these OEM tires will probably outlast ME. But, I appreciate your discussions, as I did not know that OEM tires are inferior tires. I will probably go with Michelin Defender 2 replacements.
