Well there are white collar unions as well that include engineers and programmers, maybe not yet at Ford. A friend who works at Google in Austin tells me there's a lot of support for the union there. A corporation will always try to minimize labor costs in order to increase return to investors. By the same token employees will always push back when they are being used. After all, how many many mansions, yachts, and space ships do the executives really need?
If anyone is feeling used go somewhere else. If you don't have the skills to do that. Don't expect me to pay more for an employee who can be replaced in a day. Someone started a business with their own capital or borrowed and put up collateral.
Nothing is stopping anyone from doing the same if they feel they are being used and abused.

With the news of a possible strike happening, how do you think it will affect Maverick production? While I'm not going to pretend I understand how much pull UAW has in Mexico, I sort of think that there will be a bit of pressure to support the striking workers?
I believe it's time for a strike-

I was raised in a union family, and still collect from my work 20+ years ago...

Being part of 1199 (SEIU) union. I am all for workers, however being in the largest union in the US. Union's really do not care about workers, nor do corporations. However that being said many union hospital worker are lazy and milk the system. It is a mixed bag, unions are definitely a money laundering operation. The top brass always sells members dreams and only one living those dreams are the top brass.

Our union threatened to strike late last year and that would've shut down NYC's hospitals instantly. They asked for 23% raise over 3 years, to our surprise they agreed to 18% raise. UAW workers definitely deserve raises. Ford used inflation as excuse to raise prices of all the cars, which is slap in the face to workers not getting raises. We dealt with covid insanity and hospitals raked in hundreds of millions, grants & reimbursements. Then claimed no money for any raises until strike was announced. Hope UAW agree at last minute. Hopefully this strike does not last long as I have a maverick built on 8/25/23. Are the transport companies ford use also union?
I am a union member and have run across a lot of unions out in the field. I am in favor of unions and the workers but the unions have lost The Way. They exist to serve the union executives and politicians and to protect the slackers. They have no vision and only care about their cash. The main motivation is short term greed.

"They have no vision and only care about their cash."
so pretty much like our Fed gov

the most recent UAW leadership election

The election was the first in the U.A.W.’s history in which the president and the union’s other senior executives were chosen through direct balloting of members. In the past, the leadership was chosen by delegates, a system in which favors and favoritism played a heavy role.

we'll see how this works out

I feel for all those concerned who might see even more delays on delivery of their Maverick. Thankfully I found a local brand new one and am getting it tomorrow!

I saw on the news that the UAW is looking for a 46% pay raise and a 32 hour work week but still want to get paid for a 40 hour week. I don't know about you, but that seems pretty outrageous to me. 😬

With Unions stirring up discontent, I am always worried about quality of the product. Someone will misaligh an O-ring or under/over use sealant. Anytime humans are distracted they are prone for mistakes.

With my first new vehicle purchase ever scheduled for the last week in October, it's a bit unnerving. Hopefully the Hermosillo plant has enough inventory to keep pumping out trucks for awhile...

Totally disagree. Corporations are trying to squash Union movement now, as they always have. Executive pay is higher than ever. No, workers will not lay down and go away.

Hopefully even if there's discontent and disgruntlement among the workers, they remember the end customer is not the bad guy. I'm sure many UAW workers and their families drive vehicles they've played a hand in building. No sense going shoddy to piss off the corporate bigwigs, and just hurting the customer in the long run.

Yup, pretty sure they're asking for the moon and hoping to negotiate from there. If they don't have any "budge" whatsoever, the demands are pretty far-fetched

Wax, do you have 40 hour week, sick leave, vacation, health care, retirement fund? Do your kids go to school? Are they protected by child labor laws?
All those things, and MANY MORE came directly from unions. Your cushy life is a direct result of sacrifices by union members. And you feel sorry for $multi million$ dollar a year suits!!

What is your point?
My point when humans feel disgruntle their performance goes down.
No where in this conversation did we bring up what the strike was justified or not only how it might effect the through put and/or quality of the product.

Then you should have said that. What you said without context is that they want to hurt Ford and I'll say with 35 yrs as a member is complete bull.
