Great, simple review! As much as I love the power in my 27-30mpg EB XL, sometimes i see those mid-upper 40mpg Hybrid numbers and get a little jealous, lol

Not envious of that commute with no cruise control. šŸ˜†
My commute is almost identical in length and I don’t miss it. There’s not much opportunity on mine to use it anyway. I’ve done a couple of beach trips (5-6 hour drive from where I live) in it and only around 2/3 in would my ankle start to fatigue a bit.

If my family goes further, we take the wife’s Mazda CX-9 with adaptive cruise control.

Any reason you didn't forscan cruise control for $100 worth of parts? Plus, not sure about this, but wouldn't having copilot installed, allow you to forscan adaptive cruise with just the proper steering wheel switches?

ACC requires a separate radar module that is not included otherwise.

Good review. I hope you don't mind just a few points I have on almost new truck.

I have had my hybrid xlt for about 2 weeks now. love the gas mileage. No brake issues at all so far. BUT dam its annoying switching mode to eco every time,. Plus hitting ok twice to get rid of those stupid messages at the start is annoying. Im still not used to dial snifter either.

No paint chips BUT low mileage I did coat truck with ceramic coating. Hope it helps on that.

Can forescan get rid of those messages at start? I can live with hitting button to eco.

CP360 is the only option I added to my XL order. In addition to the features you mentioned, CP360 off so adds a full-sized spare tire to the XL. I'm glad they added cruise to the '23 base model....
The CP360 provides power rearview exterior mirrors as part of the package too! Option is great value to an XL.

Didn’t realize that copilot 360 is separate from cruise control. I went with Lariat so I’ve got 360 and ACC and just thought it was all one package. I choose Lariat with lux package as I wanted the reverse sensing system.
It’s a programming thing, not mechanical. As the poster said, the 2022 xl did not offer cruise control at all, although, copilot 360 has cruise control imbedded in the code. But Ford decided not to ā€œturn it onā€ in the 2022 xl. I think to try to get more people to buy the xlt. I too have a 2022 xl hybrid. No cruise. I’m too cheap to care and don’t mind the nj turnpike with no cruise. No problem!! (Anyone, please correct me if I’m wrong about the 360 thing)

Although, saw a few other posts and cruise control does require the appropriate switches on the steering wheel, and adaptive cruise control requires that additional radar unit, so not as simple as ā€œturning it onā€.
anywho, op, nice write up. My wife agrees with you about the seats. I’m at 10k miles in 12 months now. Ordered 8/21/21, acquired 8/3/22. Xl, trailer hitch, Area 51.

I’m not sure about removing messages via Forescan. I’ll defer to the members on this forum who have and experimented with Forescan.

It would be nice to remove that startup nonsense. It wont let me hit the center console dash button for eco mode until I clear those messages by hitting okay twice on steering wheel. .

Typically not, but this past year involved multiple moves with my daughters. Both were moving in and out of their respective dorms in College( both out of state) One moved into an apartment later near her Grad. School. The other moved back from NY to Maryland. I would estimate about 4K additional mileage. I’d expect a reduced amount this year ( probably about 15k mileage)
This is the kind of stuff the Maverick was made for; all the capacity of a truck with great mileage.

After seeing several recent long term reviews, I decided to share my experience with my 2022 XL Hybrid.

Ordered: 9/11/2021
Received: 8/15/2022

Area 51 with one option. Copilot360

Dealership: Bob Bell Ford ( Glen Burnie MD)

Buying a new car sight unseen is typically not I would generally purchase a car. Despite my misgivings, I ordered my vehicle and left a deposit.

The Good:
* The hybrid system is generally seamless with more than enough power for most driving.
* Fuel Mileage has continually exceeded the EPA ratings . ( my commute is about 25miles each way with about 1/2 back roads and 1/2 highway. ) 43-47mpg is average with over 615-630miles per tank. Average commute shows about 30 to 40 % electric)
* The interior space is generally quiet and well laid out
* Truck stuff without any real compromises: I’ve moved my kids in/out dorms, filled the bed to the brim with mulch, done Multiple IKEA flat box runs for said dorm moves.l while still achieving excellent mileage.
* the ride is generally well composed and has handled winter weather well.

Not so good:
* I am not a big guy but I am very susceptible to bad car seat design. The Maverick has good but not great seats.
* Paint does chip easily( I generally think that this is a common trend with modern cars)
* I’ve had the parking lot speed ā€œclunkā€ during the transition from regenerative to mechanical braking. I haven’t done the TSB yet

A couple of notes:
* Oil changes are easy (minus removing the underpan bolts) .
* The OEM Continental tires are showing nice even wear and are okay most circumstances. I may try a different tire for better grip
* No issues minus the brake hiccup mentioned above
* Bob Bell Ford was super easy to deal with. They were a no markup dealer and was legitimately a no pressure sales environment.
* I am hoping that the tracker / communication has improved for th

I would definitely buy this again.I am glad Ford recognized that there was a hole in the market for an affordable, efficient truck.

Thanks for reading
I ordered and received the exact same truck as you, within a few days of the same dates as your order and delivery date. My experience so far, with 24,000 on the odometer, is similar to yours. Although you didn't mention it, I'm curious about the couple of recalls I've had on my truck. One recall was for the airbag, which I had done and now the latest recall is for premature engine failure which can cause a fire in the engine compartment, which hasn't yet been addressed. This latest recall has left me questioning my purchase now, as it seems to date Ford may not be addressing the underlying premature engine failure issue as they should. I've read some articles about some finishing issues with engine components that result in the engine failing prematurely. Have you had the same recalls? Do they give you any pause about the quality of the truck, even if it hasn't shown itself yet?

I haven’t done the airbag recall yet. Mainly because if the length of time I would be without it. As far as the premature engine failure, my understanding is that it was related to a small batch of early production engines. I do not believe it is like what Hyundai/ Kia are experiencing with their massive engine recall. I’m not slandering those companies but it seems like an issue like this could happen to any manufacturer. For me, I’m keeping an eye on my oil changes ( second due soon) but not overly worried at this point.

I violated some golden rules. Don’t buy a first year model and never buy something sight unseen. However, I have been happy with the decision.

I just passed my 1 yr 11k miles! Might has gone down since getting it. Wonder if it is the weight and design of topper! Love the topper! Had to buy seat cushion for better support .
