After seeing several recent long term reviews, I decided to share my experience with my 2022 XL Hybrid.

Ordered: 9/11/2021
Received: 8/15/2022

Area 51 with one option. Copilot360

Dealership: Bob Bell Ford ( Glen Burnie MD)

Buying a new car sight unseen is typically not I would generally purchase a car. Despite my misgivings, I ordered my vehicle and left a deposit.

The Good:
* The hybrid system is generally seamless with more than enough power for most driving.
* Fuel Mileage has continually exceeded the EPA ratings . ( my commute is about 25miles each way with about 1/2 back roads and 1/2 highway. ) 43-47mpg is average with over 615-630miles per tank. Average commute shows about 30 to 40 % electric)
* The interior space is generally quiet and well laid out
* Truck stuff without any real compromises: Iā€™ve moved my kids in/out dorms, filled the bed to the brim with mulch, done Multiple IKEA flat box runs for said dorm moves.l while still achieving excellent mileage.
* the ride is generally well composed and has handled winter weather well.

Not so good:
* I am not a big guy but I am very susceptible to bad car seat design. The Maverick has good but not great seats.
* Paint does chip easily( I generally think that this is a common trend with modern cars)
* Iā€™ve had the parking lot speed ā€œclunkā€ during the transition from regenerative to mechanical braking. I havenā€™t done the TSB yet

A couple of notes:
* Oil changes are easy (minus removing the underpan bolts) .
* The OEM Continental tires are showing nice even wear and are okay most circumstances. I may try a different tire for better grip
* No issues minus the brake hiccup mentioned above
* Bob Bell Ford was super easy to deal with. They were a no markup dealer and was legitimately a no pressure sales environment.
* I am hoping that the tracker / communication has improved for th

I would definitely buy this again.I am glad Ford recognized that there was a hole in the market for an affordable, efficient truck.

nice review, its not for me to judge anybody but do you usually put >20000 miles p/yr on your vehicles?

Typically not, but this past year involved multiple moves with my daughters. Both were moving in and out of their respective dorms in College( both out of state) One moved into an apartment later near her Grad. School. The other moved back from NY to Maryland. I would estimate about 4K additional mileage. Iā€™d expect a reduced amount this year ( probably about 15k mileage)

Fair point, but most of my mileage is contending with central Maryland commuting where it is typically battle zone conditions. Where I really miss it was moving my daughter in and out college in NY. Adaptive cruise control on the NJ turnpike is a godsend

Great review and glad you have had a 95%+ good experience. Every new vehicle always has some disappointments and nuances, but for the price of the 22 XL Hybrid, it is worth it. Who would have dreamed you could get a new vehicle for that $22K range that was a hybrid. Even though I do drive a Lariat hybrid, I honestly would be happy with an XL with very few options. Hope you continue to enjoy your Maverick and get those girls out of college.

I appreciate hearing your experience. I agree, overall, an enjoyable vehicle to drive, the seats are good but the lower back area in particular has too much of a curve for my taste even with the 8-way power seat. I have a 2.0 EB now but my hybrid order was just confirmed as a '24 model and I look forward to 600+ miles on a tank in the land of $5+/gallon gas. And congrats on great parenting, getting 2 kids through college and beyond.

You don't have to justify, un judge, yourself. I'm at about 20k a year with you.

Great review. Looking forward to someday (hopefully soon) getting mine. I put around 25k on a year, although now that the kid finished college (cha-ching) 200 miles away I expect these next 2 years to have reduced mileage with just my job. I plan to relocate back to the east coast and travel a lot via Maverick when I enjoy retirement.

In his review he list option of copilot 360, is that not cruise control?
The 2022 XL doesn't have cruise under any factory configuration. Cruise control didn't get added to the XL until the 2023 model year.

The co-pilot gives him lane keep assist and blind spot monitoring (and ACC is only available as an option on the Lariat)

This.ā˜

CP360 is the only option I added to my XL order. In addition to the features you mentioned, CP360 off so adds a full-sized spare tire to the XL. I'm glad they added cruise to the '23 base model.

Mine has been built and shipped, so I should be getting it within a few weeks. Definitely looking forward to it's arrival!

Didnā€™t realize that copilot 360 is separate from cruise control. I went with Lariat so Iā€™ve got 360 and ACC and just thought it was all one package. I choose Lariat with lux package as I wanted the reverse sensing system.
