Is remote start worth it or will the app be good enough?

It does tell you, the little light on the fob will blink to confirm success or failure. See the owners manual. At least it does with the factory remote start, not sure about that add-on fob.

Only fobs with a remote start button (AKA factory remote start) have the indicator LED. No remote start button, no LED, no feedback on whether it started the vehicle or not.

I am really glad the XLT Lux package comes with remote start. I would have added to my 2024 build if it did not. I used to own a 2019 Ranger. The Ford Pass app would rarely, if ever, work for me to remote start my vehicle. Nothing but pure disappointment in my experience. Granted this back in 2019-2020, but I wasn't going to tempt fate again. Once you have had remote start, you never want to go back to NOT having it.

@icegradner Right, unfortunately. As are the case with my fobs. Thus the hyperlinked fob has LED feedback and will likely be a purchase for me in the future.. on the plus side, the linked fob also allows for interface with an extended 2,500' antenna.. I wonder if the lux package keyfobs also work with the extended antenna. ...hey, I wonder if I could acquire a lux fob and have it cut & programmed for my mav.. I wonder if it'd be disproportionately expensive 🫣

The factory fobs with remote start have the extended range antenna, according to the manual.

I like this and might use my Apple Watch as the backup way to start my truck if I am ever so lucky as to have it built.

I bought an after market remote starter for my 81 Stang many moons ago that had an unbelievable range, built in pet mode (auto start stop) and a picture of a car on the remote that when started showed moving exhaust. Not bad for late 80s early 90s. I think it cost me $300 at the time.

I had remote start on my fob with my ‘22 and never used it in the 18 months I had it and so I didn’t order it on my ‘23 for an extra charge. I’ve used it once since I got my ‘23 a month ago but it’s rare that my AC would be on since I turn it off when I park. From what I understand remote start defaults to whatever setting the climate was on when you park. Now if I could remote start the heated seats and steering wheel in the winter I might have splurged on that option

I have remote start on my fob. I just reach in my pocket and start it by "feel" . No need to take it out of my pants.

I was excited when I read your post and immediately grabbed my phone to check. Sadly I don’t have any options, just start and lock/unlock doors

Those settings are in the vehicle settings, not the app, and may only work with the factory keyfob remote start. I use those settings with the key fob and it works fine. The vehicle turns on heat or AC based on the temperature, rather than last settings.

That’s what I was thinking. I don’t have remote start on my fob for the ‘23.

I checked again and here’s all I have. The vehicle tab just has name, VIN, authorized user, etc.

Again, the settings are in the vehicle. Not the app. Note the manual directs you to use the steering wheel controls.
