Purpose of Auto headlights on XL/XLT

I would prefer not using forscan from the things I’ve heard about the DRL settings. How can I go with just nothing vs the headlights on?

Turn the Configurable DRLs off in the vehicle's Settings.

I don't have my Mav yet. BUT I thought the daytime running lights were the headlights BUT much LOWER brightness? Is this incorrect? Are you guys saying the headlights are full brightness for day time running lights? Essentially meaning the headlights are ALWAYS on assuming you don't turn day time run lights off in settings? If so wow that is stupid. I thought they were much dimmer.

Since DRL are the actual headlights are XL and XLT auto headlights actually just auto tail lights ?

No. DRL's run at reduced power to extend bulb life. When the headlights are on, the headlights use full power. So Auto lamp feature will use the normal power on the headlights.

For U.S. Vehicles, As I stated, "Switching the Daytime Running Lamps on and off" bottom right corner of page 95 in the 2023 Owners Manual April 2023 printing.

Using instrument cluster controls on the steering wheel, select Settings
Select Vehicle
Select Lighting
Switch Daytime Running Lights on or off

I disabled the DLR in both my 2023 and 2022 XLT Maverick....

If you don't own a U.S. vehicle, complain to your Government, it's not Ford's problem.....

Yeah I hear it’s an American/Canadian thing
I just don’t see a point in running those LEDs if/when you don’t have to. And personally, the aesthetic would be more pleasing.

Automatic headlights are now a legal requirement as part of government safety standards. All new vehicles have them.
