I mounted a 1Up van tray to some 10 series aluminum extrusion and have it pushing the front tire against the bed divider. The rear tire sits in a divot on the tailgate and didn’t move on the 10 mile trip. I purposely went over some old bumpy roads to test it out.

Setup this way it aloes me to load/unload my bike while the truck is in the garage. I don’t have a lot room in my garage so if I went with a hitch mount I wouldn’t be able to load the bike in the garage. I’m just barely able to put down my tailgate and have it not touch the garage door.

If I need to use the entire bed of the truck I can either take off the rack by loosening the 2 thumb screws or I can pull out the entire thing by loosening the 2 brackets holding the crossbar into the bed tie downs. For most situations I can just take out the bed divider and have access to the bed with the rack in place and be fine. I did that on Friday and was able to bring my entire honey selling setup to an event with no issues. That’s a table, crates, canopy and a bunch of boxes.

I also don’t have to take off my tonneau cover to use it. If I wanted to make the bike sit closer to the cab I could but I’m lazy and would rather not be taking the tonneau on/off when I ride. I can close the tonneau cover when I get where I’m riding and everything is secure.

This is a 100lb ebike. It's way bigger than it looks. Bike would not it in anything but a full size bed. Maverick was perfect

100lbs?
No wonder some of you never pedal those things.

Believe it or not, I pedal most of the time. Pedal assist 1 makes the bike essentially weightless. I use the throttle when in traffic or a hurry. Lots of fun and now with the Maverick I don't have to do 15miles of street t reach the trails

My ebike is about 65lbs and that's more than enough! I have a hitch mount carrier for it to make it easier. For those you wonder why anyone would want a bike that heavy, give it a try. At higher speed it feels very stable.
When I was exploring the info on my Mav I found that Ford has a nice and simple way of carrying a bike in the bed with just a 2x4, strap, and a fork clip. With a ratchet strap you could carry just about any bike with it. You can just paint the 2x4 if you don't like the look of the wood. I haven't tried it yet because I have a hitch rack but I think it's a good setup, and cheap.

The link to the low cost, do-it-yourself project video is shown above. The video is excellent. Even I could build this. I just don’t own a bike and am to old to ride one safely.

I'm using this. $54 from Amazon with the clipped coupon.

If I didn’t have a tonneau cover I would’ve gone with a tailgate pad. I didn’t want to have to put it on and take it off every time I ride.

I will be the first to say that this isn’t for everyone. There are a lot of ways to carry a bike in a truck that are more convenient and easier.

Nice bike. How do you like the electric shifting?

So far, I am reasonably happy (climbing in and out of the bed is a bit of a pain) with hauling my bike diagonal in the bed with a couple of ratchet straps. I leave some slack in the straps to make sure the bike frame and wheels aren’t stressed. But that probably wouldn’t work with a bed cover.

Very nice! I have the hard trifold but mine doesn’t fold up like yours does so I’d have to take the cover off. However I do have the bed extender and I think I may be able to stand the bike up keeping the back tire toward the tail and the front tire maybe turned without have to take the cover off. I guess there’s so many ways to do it and everyone has their own preference, but so far I like your idea.

I love di2, don’t know that I would ever go back to cable shifting. It always works and never needs adjusting.

I hope to get a new bike in the next year or two, and I'd like to splurge on electronic shifting. I've heard only a very few who said it wasn't worth the money.
