Sounds like you aren't into beefing vehicles up. That's ok, but plenty people are.
Oh, I forgot the lettering, tailgate assist, hood struts and catch can.😁 I’m very happy with it and for my needs, it’s plenty beefy!👍🏻

Wow.. a lot of negative comments in here.
Not everything is going to be everyone's cup of tea, that's fine.

It's a great thing they are doing IMO. They are doing all these upgrades at the dealer and also including these as part of the warranty.
If they were closer, I'd definitely do a few easy upgrades through them just for the warranty aspect.

I was trying to wait for the video but this does have a Cobb Tuning Kit on it as a performance upgrade. (Spoiler Alert)

I think you are missing a comma, it reads that you have lowered the performance of this Mav

This is 100% valid. My negative comments were based solely on aesthetic preference. That said, not that people are talking about the actual cost, where it goes wrong for dealers who do this stuff (IMHO) is that they markup the work too much. Most dealers aren't getting huge price breaks on the accessories they are buying because unless they are Galpin Ford they aren't buying that stuff in volume. So they are buying at close to retail prices and then having to mark up well beyond retail to make a profit. Now as they say in the car business, there is a seat for every ass. But, I think more dealers SHOULD do this in greater volume so they can sell those add ons at more reasonable prices.

I disagree with your statement, Mechanics do not work on charity.
I am a service advisor. I know how they work. And the markup is coming mostly on the parts themselves, not the labor. This is all easy work. The labor is pretty minimal. As an example I have premium wheels and tires on my truck. A level kit. Full tint including the windshield. I have a $3000 audio system in it, and it is still less than $10k in mods. A lot less.

Does part of the profit from the parts and labor pay your salary?

Of course it does. But this isn't rocket science. Would Long McArthur like to sell ONE Maverick with $10k in add ons? Or would they like to sell TEN at $7K in add ons?

They will sell what they think the customers want at a price that they are willing to pay, that is the simple part of it. I presume you are not willing to take a pay cut if they lowered the prices, right?

This is a stupid argument. Do you work for Long McArthur? I understand how they got where they got. I am simply making an easy argument for selling MORE vehicles like that. I assure you that they are meeting profit margins, even if they lowered the price on this. Also, this kind of work does not come across my desk. Most dealers have internal advisors that make less than I do to handle this stuff that is low or no margin work. If you could do all the work on that truck yourself through vendors at a cost thousands less, what route are you taking? I KNOW someone will buy that truck. But it is a better proposition if it is more appealing to more buyers. I can raise my prices in service daily, and some people will keep paying it. But if I want to retain as many clients as possible I can't simply make the prices whatever I want. The consumer will vote with their dollar and the business will lose

This is the point I am trying to make with Wax. MOST buyers are not interested in these add ons at this price point. Dealers are notoriously bad at this stuff. Not picking on Tim or his team. That is just the reality. The dealers (like Galpin) are VERY good at it. And now a whole segment of their business is this kind of work.

Oh yeah, I get it. My dealer won't even entertain adding anything aftermarket to customize their vehicles. They know they would have to sit on a vehicle a long time to move it. But as with anything dealer related, the price is inflated to almost double what it should be. It used to work well when vehicles were plentiful and you could walk into a dealer and get exactly what you are looking for and finance all of it right there. Saving the time of doing something yourself. In this market, I would say sell stock vehicles to consumers and let them do the customizing.
