I know most are going to say this is totally unpredictable and a crap shoot. But for those who have had experience keeping tabs on the production of these vehicles for years now weigh in with outcomes to similar orders? Any idea on a rough timeframe for me to expect an update from ford. Eg. A production date that they've even queued my order.

I put an order in for a 24' XL ecoboost with one option, standard hitch (not 4k). The order was confirmed from Ford's side on morning of 7/18/23.

Can any of you who put in and early and simple XL order for previous years speak to your timeframe?

Again, I know I can view swaths of data on this from previous threads but I'm looking for confirmed experiences for simple XL orders put in to order banks early on. Would help weed out the many other complex constraints to guestimate.

Thanks!

You are right as rain, it's a crap shoot.

Ford doesn't like to make XLs because the margin is lower.

But you never know, it's a crap shoot.

Ford has publicly stated that they plan to get the 23MY rollover orders done between November and February. Now an EB order could fill into the spots there, but their concentration is going to be on aging rollover orders first before new orders.

I wouldn't expect anything before March personally.

Today = likely the last day to schedule 2023 year models. Which is for Oct. 2023 production, therefore I would assume the production for 2024 would start sometime in mid-late Oct. 2023.

The replies are spot on. The algorithms are too complicated for mere mortals to reverse engineer.

I was surprised when my 2022 XL Hybrid Hitch/CP360/SPIBL arrived in August 2022.
I was equally surprised when my 2023 XLT EB AWD BAP/4KTow arrived in January 2023.

I will NOT be surprised if the new 2024 XL Hybrid CP360/Hitch/SPIBL we ordered arrives at the end of the 2024 Model Year... or doesn't get produced at all. My son wanted a XL Hybrid (with CP360/Hitch/SPIBL) and that guarantees it will be a tough truck to get scheduled.

I have an order for an XL Ecoboost with only a full size spare and all weather mats. Been waiting almost 11 months, and it is still not scheduled to be built. Dealer has also put in an order for a 24 with the same specs and has this new order at priority 4. Looks like it will be at least November or December before I get a truck. Dealer dropped the hitch and spray in bedliner, thinking that would help move the order along.

No way of telling, but I think an XL is at the lower end of fords planned trim level number of builds in addition to your dealers allocations, etc. Expect a 1 year wait and if you get it before then your expectations were exceeded. Good Luck.

So this one right here means my best hope lies not in the model or options but moreso that I got my order in early for MY24.

Possible additional hope in the fact that order banks are open much longer this time around. Soooo... 🤞that means less volume of orders / more capacity to build or both.

Thanks to all of you though for the insight. First hand experiences are a little easier to digest than other summations and conjecture!

I recall seeing that the spray in bedliner is no longer a constrain item. The hitch is still a constrain option, but it is only $100, and getting the hitch on after delivery costs quite a bit more.

- All weather mats = plenty of better options in aftermarket, or just use the points to get it after taking delivery
- Full size spar = not quite full size, 215/60/17 - Alas Privia, while the XL comes with the 225/65/17 - Continental tires

The $100 vs aftermarket is why I have the hitch option on there as my only option. I'd pay more for the parts alone. Even though it's not too hard to install myself, I'm willing to roll the dice a bit to avoid the cost and my time. Seems like they do get enough hitches to produce what's ordered but it comes in waves.

Everything else I'll handle after market. I actually want to make a burned wood look tonneau cover. A "woody" if you will!

Yep, the hitch has been on and off of my order. Dealer finally said leave it off and make the order as simple as possible. I wanted the hitch, but gave up. As to the spare I know it is not the same size. The dealer also thought the bedliner might slow down the order since it is not done at the factory, but done at another location.

My dealer told me, before I even knew if I wanted a Maverick, not to order the spray in liner for that reason. Said he'd heard of cars being done and waiting in the other facilities lot for a month to be sprayed.

Anybody remember the days when you got a new car, joined a forum, and talked about which vendor was best for modified parts like tail light upgrades and stuff we can’t even get because nobody is making anything?

The idea of discussing when, and if, you could get the car itself wasn’t even on the radar.

It was good while it lasted.
